Full Job Description
Position Summary

Provide administrative support to the Director of Administration and Operations and the Department Chair of CSE department including supervising staff, managing departmental operating budgets as well as school PHD support budgets. Responsible for managing support for several areas of Tandon's Computer Science & Engineering Department to help ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day academic operations. Responsible for many of the department's operations, which will include, but not be limited to, support for department faculty in both academic and research areas regarding purchases, travel arrangements, event and seminar planning, and expenditure allocations. Recommends new initiatives and ways to improve processes and streamline department operations and improve efficiency. Ensures compliance with University, school, and departmental policies and serves as an informational and problem solving resource for the department. Manage approval process for unpaid interns, unpaid Visiting Scholars, and other visiting researchers. Process summer salary and additional compensation for faculty. Review & submit iBuy carts. Assist with and make travel arrangements for faculty, students, staff, and researchers. Maintain department directories and records. Plan, organize, and set up student events, engaging with students in meaningful ways.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related area

Required Experience:
2+ years working in an academic setting, supervision and managing budgets or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High level of customer service skills. Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite and other composition/file sharing tools (i.e. Google Docs, etc.), social media platforms, data-imaging and sound-processing software. Ability to provide advice, creatively resolve problems, and interact with individuals at all levels in an academic setting. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills. Knowledge of basic budget and/or accounting principles. Ability to interact with a diverse population at all levels. Proficiency with standard office software (word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications).

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $86,300 to $95,040. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
