Full Job Description
Digital Solutions Team | Marketing & Communications | UVA Health

UVA Health is seeking a Delivery Lead to support the delivery of digital experiences that power the health system's digital patient experience. This role combines the servant leadership of a Scrum Master with the delivery accountability of a Project Manager.

The Delivery Lead will partner with Project Managers, Product Managers, Product Owners, UX, developers, content strategists, digital marketers, HIT, and external vendors to ensure work is well-defined, prioritized, and delivered on time.

This role is responsible for maintaining delivery discipline, facilitating Agile ceremonies, proactively managing risks and dependencies, and providing clear communication to stakeholders.

This position is ideal for a highly organized, collaborative leader who is comfortable balancing Agile coaching with hands-on project management in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Delivery Leadership
  • As a Scrum Master, facilitate sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date sprint board that reflects the real-time status of all work.
  • Coach the team on Agile and Scrum best practices.
  • Protect sprint commitments by managing scope changes and escalating competing priorities.

Project Coordination
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, and delivery plans.
  • Monitor sprint velocity and delivery trends, identifying risks early.
  • Coordinate cross-functional dependencies across Product, UX, Engineering, Communications, Marketing, HIT, and external vendors.
  • Track and communicate project status, scope changes, and key decisions to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Product Owners to organize and maintain strategic roadmaps that align priorities to patient acquisition, digital experience, and organizational goals.

Risk & Issue Management
  • Proactively identify and remove blockers before they impact delivery.
  • Escalate risks and priority conflicts to the Director and Product leadership.
  • Ensure mitigation plans are in place for critical issues.

Backlog & Readiness Management
  • Partner with Product Managers and Product Owners to ensure stories are well-defined, estimated, and ready for sprint planning.
  • Facilitate backlog refinement sessions and support clear acceptance criteria.
  • Help maintain and enforce the team's Definition of Done.

Stakeholder & Vendor Communication
  • Provide regular delivery updates to internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Coordinate deliverables and timelines with external vendors and partner teams.
  • Ensure decisions, dependencies, and risks are clearly communicated.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5-7 years of experience in project management, Scrum Master, Agile delivery, or related roles.
  • Experience leading Agile software development teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and Agile delivery principles.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and competing priorities.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMP, or similar certification.
  • Jira Administrator certification
  • Experience with healthcare, academic medicine, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience managing digital product, website, or software development initiatives.
  • Experience working with headless CMS platforms and enterprise integrations.
  • Experience coordinating work with third-party vendors and distributed development teams.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing, analytics, SEO, and conversion optimization.
  • Experience using both Jira and Airtable to manage Agile delivery, intake workflows, backlog prioritization, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Contentstack, Epic, Kyruus, and Coveo.

Success Measures

Success in this role will be measured by:
  • Predictable sprint execution and improved delivery velocity.
  • Reduced blockers and faster issue resolution.
  • Accurate and transparent project status reporting.
  • Improved coordination across teams and vendors.
  • Increased adoption of Agile best practices.
  • On-time delivery of roadmap initiatives supporting patient acquisition and digital experience goals

Licensure: None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
