General Description

The Dean of Workforce is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, operating, and assessing effectiveness of workforce programs (continuing education, vocational, avocational, and customized corporate) reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAAP) of Wharton County Junior College (WCJC). These initiatives are conducted in response to community and student needs and reflect changes in the workforce and community demographics. The Dean oversees certain workforce programs to ensure they follow state and regional accreditation and certification standards and meet any State and/or Federal agency guidelines. The Dean of Workforce is a member of the President's Cabinet, the Extended Cabinet, and various instructional committees.
Requirements

This position requires a Master's degree from any regionally accredited institution. A minimum of seven (7) years in higher education is required. Applicant must have extensive knowledge of monitoring programs and knowledge of grant application and administration. This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of workforce curriculum and program development. This position requires a high level of skill in the application of critical thinking, communication, organization, and time management. This position requires a minimum of five (5) years' experience with educational technology with the applicant able to utilize technology to access and maintain student records, develop and deploy curriculum, and monitor program outcomes. This position must work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to provide an optimal educational environment in all workforce training areas.
Preferred: Applicant should have a track record of progressively increasing administrative experience in Academic Affairs (such as Chair, Director, Associate Dean, or comparable positions). Applicant should have experience teaching at the college level.
