Full Job Description
Sustaining Electrical Engineer

The Sustaining Electrical Engineer supports the Engineering Manager in a wide range of sustaining engineering activities following the initial release of engineering deliverables. This role works closely with key stakeholders across the Electrical Engineering Design team to ensure seamless coordination and execution of engineering changes and improvements.

The Sustaining Electrical Engineer is responsible for the electrical systems and scope associated with large-scale data center projects throughout the construction, assembly, testing, and delivery phases. Key responsibilities include reviewing, modifying, approving, and maintaining electrical designs and drawings; facilitating cross-functional communication; and ensuring that all electrical systems meet customer requirements for accuracy, reliability, efficiency, safety, and quality.

This position plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by providing timely engineering guidance, resolving technical issues, implementing design changes, and ensuring the successful execution of the electrical scope during production.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and modify various Electrical engineering deliverable drawings, documents, and calculations such as instrument list/index, instrument data sheets, control system architecture drawings, alarm schedule, select and specify all safety and control instruments, etc
  • Review of the P&ID, IOM Procedure, Start-Up Procedure, and Control and Shutdown
  • Philosophy to ensure Data Centre FATs, Installation and Operation are issue free.
  • Ensure all major equipment buy-outs are properly specified and purchased to interface seamlessly with overall system.
  • Assist in providing hookup details to I&E contractor for installation of instrumentations.
  • Prepare and modify bulk MTOs (Material Take Offs) and detailed BOMs (Bill of Materials).
  • Ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs while managing impact to quality, cost, or schedule.
  • Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods and represents the organization in meetings with design engineering team to resolve important questions.
  • Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
  • Provide technical support during the construction phase, responding to RFIs and addressing any issues that arise.


Required skill set

  • SAP (Taking engineering reports, organizing data, arriving at engineering decisions and suggest recommended actions)
  • 3D modelling and drafting
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings, PNs and BOMs
  • Fluency, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Experience in complex electrical schematics and layouts, load schedule, load list, MTOs, Vendor documentation review, International electrical standards like IEEE, NEC, IEC etc
  • Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
  • PDF Editor (Adobe, Foxit, or other equivalent)
  • Extreme work ethic and maintains high level of quality of work and due diligence.
  • Express complex ideas effectively in both individual and group situations.
  • Organize and express ideas clearly in written documents.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with a cross-functional team.


Educational: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Controls Engineering from a

recognized university.
