JOB SUMMARY

This position supports the DCGS Program at Robins AFB, GA. The Engineering Tech shall be able to perform work with responsibility in planning and conducting projects of limited scope, or a portion of a larger project which includes leadership responsibilities, scheduling, and planning activities.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support assigned programs and products with respect to acquisition life cycle activities including development, production, test, and technical management.
  • Identify and document technical requirements for weapon system products
  • Develop technical/engineering and test/verification plans which specify the objectives and means to fulfill mission and/or system requirements
  • Application of appropriate computer science principles and broad technical knowledge in interpreting and flowing-down capability needs/requirements, evaluating design approaches and trade-offs, and test/verification strategies for the delivery of operational capability within the limits imposed by life cycle constraints such as cost and schedule needs
  • Evaluate technical risks, makes independent technical decisions and/or recommends sound technical options to optimize systems performance and acquisition schedules
  • Develop and/or originate new features in addition to improving, extending, or validating currently known percents, data, methods, or techniques
  • Assist in translating DoD user requirements into system requirements.
  • Review overall system design baseline (architecture and interoperability) requirements and assist in the development of system specifications and system architecture products
  • Perform independent analysis of proposed engineering changes, specifications and provide the Government with their evaluation and recommendations on the acceptability of vendor proposals
  • Support life cycle cost evaluations on proposed systems and components
  • Assist with test and evaluation support including test planning, test conduct and evaluation of test results against operational requirements to include participating in ITTs, TRRs, and other related system or program events and assisting in the determination of capability and availability of major DoD and civilian test resources and facilities
  • Assist in scheduling and securing required test resources in support of project and program office objectives, and monitor, assess status, and report on T&E efforts of all types of systems
  • Assist in designing, planning, execution, analysis, reporting, and documentation during any phase of test and evaluation programs, including applicable certifications and procedures, to assess the performance of systems, subsystems, components, and equipment
  • Support the development of system and program's technical plans to include the review of technical documents, participation on program or system Working Groups, tracking status of risk and issue resolution, review of test plans, procedures, and data, and support of special studies to define alternative approaches

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Experience completing acquisition engineering and technical tasks that support the LCM of products and systems within the Defense Acquisition System processes using UCA, MTA, MCA, SW Acquisition or Acquisition of Services pathways.
  • Knowledge of regulations, policies, and operating instructions as they pertain to the preparation of technical documents, technical data, and systems engineering execution is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master of Science or Master of Arts Degree, 12 years of experience, and 5 years of Department of Defense (DoD) experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree, 15 years of experience and 5 years of DoD experience; OR

Certifications, 20 years of experience, 8 years of DoD experience
  • A bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited school in Engineering, Engineering Technology, IT, or Computer Science is preferred

SECURITY CLEARANCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have a minimum of an active U.S. SECRET clearance and be subject to a government security investigation.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Driving or renting a car for company business is expected with some frequency. For insurance purposes, a valid driver's license is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

TRAVEL REQUIRED
  • Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position for meetings, trainings, and/or site visits.
