SummaryClallam County is seeking a Lead Entity Program Coordinator to lead and coordinate salmon habitat recovery efforts across the North Olympic Peninsula, from Sequim Bay to Cape Flattery (WRIAs 17, 18, and 19). The Lead Entity Program Coordinator operates under the general supervision of the North Olympic Peninsula Lead Entity for Salmon Restoration Board (NOPLE) and the direct supervision of the county Director of Community Development. This position works closely with local governments, tribal nations, agencies, landowners, nonprofits, and citizen groups to advance salmon recovery projects. Key responsibilities include facilitating stakeholder collaboration, managing grant-funded programs, supporting project prioritization, and coordinating regional habitat restoration planning and implementation. The ideal candidate will have strong project management, facilitation, and partnership-building skills, with the ability to work independently in a collaborative, multi-stakeholder environment. This position is fully grant-funded through the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office and is contingent upon continued funding availability.
Typical Duties - Coordinate salmon habitat recovery efforts on the North Olympic Peninsula from Sequim Bay westerly to Cape Flattery, inclusive of WRIAs 17, 18, & 19
- Collaborate with staff from member entities to ensure projects are completed on schedule, and with a high degree of quality
- Represent the North Olympic Lead Entity to political entities, the media and other State, local and Federal agencies and elected officials at the executive level; serve as the representative on various inter-agency committees
- Resolve inter-agency and policy management issues as they pertain to the Restoration Group's business
- Evaluate options and provide direction on budget, funding, staffing and work plan development
- May locate and secure additional funding from grants and other public and private sources to further the North Olympic Lead Entity's goals; assist in helping to identify and secure additional funding for salmon recovery efforts
- Guide the committee in developing a habitat restoration project list under the guidelines of the Salmon Recovery Planning Bill
- May serve as project officer for grants issued from State, Federal and private sources for North Olympic Lead Entity activities and coordination
- Coordinate and facilitate development of measures for habitat restoration on the North Olympic Peninsula
- Organize and oversee North Olympic Lead Entity programs including monitoring funding, work schedules, grant requirements and progress reviews; manages and facilitates policy development for Lead Entity
- Coordinate information between subgroups within the North Olympic Lead Entity
- Organize and facilitates workshops and field trips
- Attend meetings, conferences, seminars and training classes as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Education, Training, & Experience Requires knowledge of the field of assignment sufficient to perform thoroughly and accurately the full scope of responsibility as illustrated by examples in the above job description
Education/TrainingBachelor degree in forestry, geology, hydrology, fish or wildlife management, environmental science, ecology or related natural resources field, land use planning, or tribal land use law or knowledge.
ExperienceFive years of professional experience related to communicating, instructing and advising on natural resource management or similar issues, or any equivalent combination of education and experience, which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the work; experience working with volunteer organizations, tribes, and a Board of Directors is preferred.
