What You Should BringThe ideal candidate should have considerable knowledge of best practice crisis response and assessment services. Extensive knowledge of clinical supervision of other professional and paraprofessional staff, knowledge of the system of care in the City of Alexandria, and knowledge of best practice approaches to crisis management. Advanced knowledge of current treatment interventions for individuals who have a mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorder, psychopharmacology, and crisis intervention.
Responsibilities include:- Develops, implements, and monitors compliance with Day Support Services program policies and procedures as well as licensing regulations;
- Develops long-range program plans and participates in program reviews and evaluations;
- Makes recommendations for program changes and implements changes as indicated;
- Participates in various interdisciplinary meetings to review and evaluate client progress and plan future treatment goals;
- Oversees adherence to regulatory guidelines and third-party agency requirements to ensure full program compliance;
- Develops and implements new day support services;
- Provides clinical and administrative supervision to Day Support Services staff, volunteers and students;
- Supervises and approves the implementation of all individual written rehabilitation support plans;
- Reviews and approvals of all personnel actions expenditures requisitions, contracts and reports;
- Supervises and coordinates employment and day support services with individual therapists, case managers, and other stakeholders;
- Prepares a variety of program reports for City stakeholders, DBHDS, and the Community Services Board;
- Interviews new clients referred to the Day Support Program, assesses client status and determines suitability of each referral;
- Assists with budget preparation, review and monitoring;
- Maintains program billing and budget, work with ID/DD Director to identify billing trends and ways to maximize revenue;
- Completes and supervises the completion of performance evaluations for Day Support Services staff;
- Conducts and attends administrative, staff and other meetings;
- Coordinates and approves the purchase of equipment and supplies;
- Provides information about the programs to community groups and communicates program goals, objectives and needs;
- Directs the establishment and maintenance of a data reporting system to provide information for the evaluation and administration of the program;
- Provides crisis intervention services to program clients;
- Monitors the use of contractual services;
- Interprets Federal, State and other licensing policies and regulations;
- Establishes and maintains liaison with other employment and training programs, agencies, employment sites, and resources;
- Writes, updates program descriptions according to best practice standards;
- Prepares program for various accreditations;
- Monitors program productivity, and staff productivity;
- Reviews clinical records, including support plans, quarterlies, and assessments;
- Works with MCD maintenance team to ensure the cleanliness and regulatory compliance of suite;
- Performs related work as required.
About Our DepartmentThe Center for Adult Services (CAS) provides programs and services in Aging; Adult Protective Services; Clinical & Emergency Services; and Community & Residential Support Services for seniors and for persons with mental illness, intellectual disabilities and substance use disorders. CAS provides compassionate and effective person-centered services based on best practices. Our teams support self-determination, safety and recovery for Alexandria residents affected by abuse, neglect, mental illness, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse disorders.
Minimum & Additional Requirements Four Year College Degree; Considerable experience working in day support programs for persons with mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities or substance abuse, in a an administrative, supervisory capacity. Some program management skills along with supervisory skills, budgeting and money management.
Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree; At least one year of clinical and administrative supervisory experience providing intellectual and/or developmental disability services and knowledge of intellectual disability employment models. Must have a valid driver's license.
