Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled ETL DataStage Consultant with strong expertise in DataStage development, administration, production support, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with ETL processes, Unix shell scripting, relational databases, Python, and SQL, along with the ability to automate platform utilities and environment checks. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and efficiency of enterprise data integration processes while collaborating with business and technical teams, managing application support, and meeting defined KPI and SLA expectations.
Key Responsibilities
• Understand business and technical requirements and implement ETL processes using IBM DataStage to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
• Collaborate with business analysts, technical teams, and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL queries and scripts for data manipulation, validation, transformation, and retrieval.
• Develop Python scripts and automation solutions to improve data processing and platform operations.
• Manage and configure DataStage environments to ensure optimal performance, stability, and reliability.
• Monitor DataStage jobs, system performance, job logs, and performance metrics to proactively identify potential issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve ETL, application, and production issues in a timely manner.
• Provide production support and participate in incident management processes to ensure timely resolution of incidents.
• Implement security best practices for enterprise data handling and integration processes.
• Plan and execute regular maintenance activities, including DataStage system upgrades, patches, and configuration changes.
• Ensure maintenance and operational activities comply with organizational policies and applicable industry standards.
• Design and implement utilities and frameworks to automate platform functionality, environment checks, and operational processes.
• Support application monitoring and maintain KPI and SLA commitments.
• Manage application support activities and coordinate with business and technical teams to resolve issues and meet operational expectations.
• Document ETL processes, procedures, configurations, support activities, and technical solutions for knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
• Work effectively with onshore and offshore teams in a distributed delivery environment.
• Participate in Agile delivery activities and follow established JIRA, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
Required Qualifications
• 6+ years of proven experience in ETL development and administration using IBM DataStage.
• Strong experience with ETL development, administration, production support, and application maintenance.
• Solid understanding of Unix/Linux shell scripting and Cron jobs.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Strong Python scripting skills for automation, data processing, and platform improvements.
• Strong SQL skills for data validation, transformation, manipulation, and troubleshooting.
• Experience developing automation utilities and frameworks for platform functionality and environment checks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of production support, incident management, KPI tracking, and SLA expectations.
• Very strong knowledge of Sony ITSM processes and service-level expectations.
• Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies.
• Experience with JIRA, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working effectively in an onshore-offshore delivery model.

• Experience with Control-M scheduling and workload automation.
• Experience with Managed File Transfer (MFT) solutions.
• Experience with IBM Gentran.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale data integration platforms.
