Responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity at the Department of State! The Database Lead manages comprehensive database management support related to the global customer IT environment. It includes over 350 facilities, two domestic DoS Data Centers, multiple cloud-based platforms (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Microsoft (MS) Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Office 365 (O365), SharePoint Online – listed in order of priority), over 270 applications, more than 4,200 servers (a mix of Windows and Linux), over 50,000 workstations, and approximately 500 MS Structured Query Language (SQL) databases.
Responsibilities:
- This position directs senior Tier II support for all databases and Tier III for all SQL and Oracle databases, including the Customer Consolidated Database (CCD) and related databases, as well as databases supporting both legacy and modernized client/server and web-based applications.
- You will lead modernized databases and assist with modernization initiatives.
- Additionally, you will support integration of database service with partner agencies and internal applications, including managing middleware and messaging queues (e.g., Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) infrastructure).
- You must be able to deploy approved Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML) scripts and coordinate customer application releases across all domestic and overseas locations.
- You will also provide leadership for Oracle engineered systems (Exadata), including standby builds, Secure Shell (SSH) key management, and cloud migration activities.
- This role requires that you manage physical and virtual infrastructure supporting databases in accordance with Government security and emergency protocols.
- You will ensure database security compliance for databases, manage service account password resets, and maintain repository documentation (SOPs/KBAs).
- As the Database Lead, you will ensure Application Development and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) teams have script installation, troubleshooting, and testing in non-production environments.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The following are the education and experience required for this position:
- 12+ years
- Bachelor's in IT or related field
- OCP and/or MCDBA-equivalent
- Secret Security Clearance
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Comp TIA Sec+, ITIL 4 Foundation Certification(s)
