Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the Database Applications Analyst/Developer will oversee the management of all corporate relational databases. This position must specialize in coordinating the integration of corporate business systems and optimize the storage and maintenance of corporate data, thus improving the City's ability to serve its customers.

Responsibilities

include, but are not limited to:
• Collaborate with the Director, Information Technology in the ongoing development, installation, configuration, programming, implementation, and operation of all database systems within the organization. This includes short-term and long-term planning reviews.
• Manage business analysis by maintaining up-to-date knowledge about leading technologies and municipal programs and services in order to review the adequacy of the information systems and recommend improvements or system enhancements to improve systems security, cost-effectiveness or operating efficiencies.
• Optimization of Corporate databases including SQL Server performance, backup schedules, restores, and security.
• Research, test, and implement database product updates as appropriate to business needs, security, and/or technical requirements.
• Provide ongoing management of spatial data and associated attribute databases, including generation of metadata and quality control.
• Evolve existing intranet and internet mapping solutions to meet the growing needs of city staff and the city's customer base.
• Develop, evaluate, and document data standards and maintenance procedures for the collection, distribution, and maintenance of corporate datasets.
• Create test environments as required by other information technology staff or corporate departments for product update testing, process testing and/or troubleshooting.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Computer Systems, Information Technology, or related discipline. Ongoing professional development in Database Administration, Systems Integration, GIS, and Software Development is encouraged. A minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably in a municipal environment, is required. The incumbent will possess direct experience supporting CityView and Microsoft SQL Server in a municipal or enterprise environment. Additional experience with ESRI/GIS applications, Crystal Reports, SSRS, Power BI, Microsoft.NET applications, Laserfiche/ECM systems, ERP or Asset Management systems, and workflow automation platforms is considered an asset. Experience building or supporting integrations between enterprise systems (i.e., APIs, ETL processes, automated workflows, GIS integrations, or data synchronization) is preferred. This position requires strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours weekly, Monday - Friday
