Full Job Description
Position Summary

This position provides planning, development, implementation, upgrade, support, reporting, and access control for databases managed by the Division of State Patrol (DSP). In addition, this position serves as an administrator for SharePoint intranet and public facing web content. This position acts as the DOT Security Officer for the DSP and as part of a team of IT professionals who provide IT support of the sworn officers, dispatchers, and civilian staff of the Division of State Patrol.

This position works with a significant amount of independence and is responsible for making decisions regarding the direction of database support, security, maintenance, and reporting for the Division. In addition to the DOT Security Officer duties of user management, additional security responsibilities of this position include Active Directory Administration duties and SharePoint user permissions oversight.

This position is also part of a team that regularly conducts IT problem solving, testing, and planning. This position is called upon to provide remote and onsite support for critical IT functions during planned events and unplanned incidents.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range (07-34) with an annual salary of $70,012-$99,257, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

This state agency does not sponsor work visas. This state agency is not enrolled in USCIS E-Verify and is not eligible to employ international F-1 students seeking STEM-OPT extension. Qualifications

Qualified candidates must meet all the following:
  • Experience with administration of databases.
    • Experience may include configuration of database servers/instances, troubleshooting technical database issues, database optimization, managing database backup jobs, and other related activities.
  • Experience managing data from multiple sources.
    • Experience may include facilitating collection of data, coordinating/troubleshooting data entry, auditing data input and results, and other related activities.
  • Experience producing reports from multiple data sources.
    • Experience may include identifying reporting needs, developing queries, extracting data, managing a data marketplace and other related activities.
In addition to all the above, well-qualified candidates must meet one or more of the following:
  • Experience with Transact-SQL (T-SQL) scripting or stored procedure development including extract-transform-load (ETL) processes.
  • Experience in the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience optimizing reports through SQL indexing or query tuning.
