What You'll Do
• Ensure the smooth, secure, and reliable operation of SQL Server databases and application environments
• Perform performance tuning, security monitoring, patching, and advanced troubleshooting
• Track and enhance the health and availability of databases-recommending improvements and optimization strategies
• Document support activities in alignment with IT procedures and escalate complex issues when needed
• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade server operating systems, web servers, and database platforms
• Partner with IT Software Engineers to resolve server, application, and desktop-related issues
• Research new tools, technologies, and standards to continually advance our database and application ecosystem
• Analyze utilization and capacity metrics to support long-term planning and growth
• Provide hands-on database support for classified networks
• Support ongoing cybersecurity compliance efforts, including NIST, NRC, COMSEC, and DOE requirements
What You Bring
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical field-or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience with document management applications and SQL Server databases
• Strong working knowledge of:
- Microsoft operating systems and hardware platforms
- M365 environments
- Relational database concepts
- SQL languages: DDL, DML, DQL, DCL, and TCL
• Direct experience with:
- SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
- Database backups, restores, and T-SQL
- Creating SQL Server login accounts
- Building SQL Agent jobs
- Writing SQL queries, scripts, functions, and stored procedures
- Configuring Database Mail
- Using SQLCMD
• Bonus skills (not required):
- PowerShell
- Python
