Role Summary
Bridges content operations and data engineering. Analyzes structured and unstructured content, defines content models and taxonomies for a legacy-to-modern migration, and executes the data mapping, extraction, cleansing, and validation required to move content and application data from legacy platforms into a modern CMS and cloud data services.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform content inventory and audit across legacy applications and sites; produce migration maps from legacy structures to target content types, fields, and taxonomies.
• Write and tune SQL to extract, profile, cleanse, de-duplicate, and reconcile content and reference data.
• Build and execute repeatable migration scripts and validation harnesses; document reconciliation results and defect dispositions.
• Define information architecture, metadata schemas, and controlled vocabularies supporting search, filtering, and downstream analytics.
• Analyze site analytics, search logs, and user feedback to recommend content and IA improvements grounded in evidence.
• Generate representative test data sets for development and QA activities while protecting sensitive and PII-bearing data.
• Produce data quality dashboards and recurring reporting for program stakeholders.
• Partner with developers and testers to validate post-migration content fidelity, redirects, and SEO continuity.
• Support migration from legacy DB2/.NET data and content structures to Drupal 10+ and MySQL on the DOL PACE platform, preserving functional parity, records integrity, and auditability.
• Define and validate interface/data mappings for integrations with Appian-based systems (including WISE/CAPS/PWRS), Kafka/event flows, APIs, and analytics/reporting services.
• Maintain data dictionaries, mapping specifications, migration reconciliation evidence, and data-quality artifacts in DOL repositories.
Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years in a content analyst, data analyst, or data migration role supporting enterprise web platforms.
• Strong SQL against relational databases; ability to write complex joins, aggregations, and data-quality queries. Exposure to IBM DB2 and/or Aurora/PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Hands-on CMS content migration experience (Drupal migrate framework, ETL scripting in Python/PHP, or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of taxonomy design, metadata standards, and structured content modeling.
• Experience with data profiling, cleansing, and reconciliation on migrations at scale.
• Comfort with JSON/XML/CSV interchange formats and API-delivered data.
• Section 508 / accessibility awareness as it applies to structured content and data presentation.
• Experience validating legacy-to-modern migrations involving relational databases, APIs, and CMS data models; DB2 and MySQL/PostgreSQL experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of privacy, records retention, immutable/tamper-evident audit logging, and protection of PII in test and migration data.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience migrating .NET/legacy application content into Drupal.
• Familiarity with event-driven data flows (Kafka topics, message schemas).
• Python or PHP scripting for automation.
• BI/reporting tool experience (Power BI, Tableau, QuickSight).
Education
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Library/Information Science, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
