Waypoint's client is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to support the Joint Electromagnetic Warfare Center (JEWC) by providing advanced data analytics, machine learning, and Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) data refinement capabilities. This position focuses on integrating, validating, and modeling EMS data from multiple sources to improve electromagnetic spectrum operations and support mission-critical decision-making.
The selected candidate will work with engineers, technical teams, and operational subject matter experts to develop machine-readable data solutions, dynamic software models, and data integration processes that comply with Department of Defense data governance standards.
Responsibilities:- Lead efforts to refine, validate, and improve data contained within the Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) repository by identifying informational gaps, correcting errors, and ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
- Structure EMS data into hierarchical formats that link unit, platform, and equipment EMS parameters to support operational requirements.
- Develop and document data integration processes and gap analyses in accordance with DoDI 8320.02 and applicable DoD data governance standards.
- Develop machine-readable EMS data export capabilities using formats such as JSON and APIs while ensuring compliance with dissemination controls.
- Develop, validate, and maintain dynamic software models representing EMS systems with both geospatial and non-geospatial capabilities.
- Prepare documentation describing data sources, modeling methodologies, validation activities, and system integration processes.
- Collaborate with engineers, software developers, technical teams, and operational subject matter experts to develop mission-focused EMS data products.
- Support data modeling, analytics, and machine learning efforts that improve electromagnetic spectrum operations.
Required:- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Minimum 8 years of experience in data science, analytics, or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting software development, lifecycle and software development methodologies
- Strong programming experience with Python, R, and/or SQL
- Experience applying statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and advanced data manipulation techniques
- Experience developing data models and integrating data from multiple data sources
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary technical teams and government stakeholders
Desired:- Experience working with Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) data or military electronic warfare systems
- Familiarity with DoD data governance and security policies, including DoDI 8320.02
- Experience developing data solutions supporting Department of Defense or other U.S. Government customers
- Experience developing machine-readable APIs and JSON-based data exchange capabilities
- Experience building geospatial and non-geospatial software models
- Experience supporting defense, intelligence, or national security missions
