Full Job Description
Data Scientist
The Opportunity:

We have an opportunity for you to use your analytical skills to improve the U.S. Space Force. You'll work closely with your customer to understand their questions and needs and then dig into their data-rich environment to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You'll craft strategies to locate and source datasets, establish metrics and KPIs for leaders, write scripts to analyze data and automate processes for efficiency, and build dashboards using business intelligence tools to make sense of it all. Using the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn sets of disparate data into objective insights, your efforts will enable U.S. Space Force leaders to make data-informed decisions. You'll provide your customer with a deep understanding of their data, what it all means, and how they can use it. Join us as we use data science for good in support of the U.S. Space Force. This position is located in the Washington Metro area.

You Have:
  • 2+ years of experience with data exploration, data cleaning, data analysis, data visualization, or data mining of structured and unstructured data sources
  • 2+ years of experience with statistical and general-purpose programming languages for data analysis such as Python, R, or SQL and with common data science libraries such as pandas, NumPy, or scikit-learn
  • 2+ years of experience building clear visualizations and lightweight dashboards in Tableau or Power BI, including advanced analytical expressions and custom to enhance dashboard insight and data model efficiency, and determining when to prefer code-based visualization such as Matplotlib or Plotly for analytical workflows
  • 1+ years of experience applying machine learning methods, including common approaches such as logistic regression, linear regression, decision trees, random forests, and gradient-boosted models, in a production setting
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders to define actionable KPIs, build monitoring metrics, and surface trends and forecasts for leadership
  • Experience using generative AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, or Gemini to accelerate code development, enhance content creation and quality, and orchestrate agentic workflows that improve overall mission efficiency
  • Experience scoping, validating, and contributing to data science solutions in a professional setting with guidance as needed
  • Ability to communicate analytical insights and translate technical analyses into clear narratives and use cases for senior government or military stakeholders
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree


Nice If You Have:
  • Experience supporting the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Air Force, or another DoD Service
  • Experience developing natural language processing (NLP) models
  • Experience developing data strategies or roadmaps, including implementation or action plans, to advance organizational data maturity
  • Experience mapping data elements and designing data flow diagrams to clarify requirements and align HR, financial, and operational systems
  • Experience contributing to the development of business development and marketing artifacts such as proposals or white papers
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Master's degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
