About the RoleRole PurposeThe Data Scientist plays a critical role in driving profitable growth by identifying, analyzing, and delivering data-driven insights that optimize margin performance across the organization. This role leverages advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques to uncover pricing, cost, and product mix opportunities within an industrial and electronics distribution environment.
Responsibilities- Working closely with pricing, sales, procurement, and finance teams, the Data Scientist translates complex data into actionable recommendations that support strategic decision-making
- Analyze margin/growth performance across customers, products, suppliers, and channels to identify improvement opportunities
- Detect margin leakage drivers such as discounting, pricing inconsistencies and cost fluctuations
- Analyze win/loss data, deal-level performance, and competitive pricing trends
- Develop predictive models for demand, price elasticity, and customer behavior
- Apply machine learning techniques to identify cross-sell, upsell, and mix optimization opportunities
- Aggregate and transform large datasets Sales, Customer, Product, Competitor
- Provide clear, actionable insights through storytelling (narrative building)
- Enable self-service analytics for business stakeholders
- Track and measure realized impact of implemented initiatives
- Support RS through gaining deep understanding of various areas of the business, bringing fresh ideas and ways of thinking to change strategy and policy
- Maintain documentation for models, data pipelines, and methodologies
- Ensure compliance with data governance and internal policies
- Promote best practices in analytics and data science across the organization

Candidate RequirementsEssential Skills & Experience- Python
- Advanced SQL
- Advanced statistics and machine learning knowledge

- Reasonable level of price theory (willingness to pay, share of wallet, elasticity etc)
- Stakeholder management (simplifying advanced concepts into narratives/visualizations)
- Strong problem solving

- Strong interpersonal skills, willing to work in group-projects

Essential Qualifications (Must be evidenced at offer stage)- Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field or equivalent experience.
