Full Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Quality Systems the Data Scientist II will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Quality Team and applying analytical techniques to high volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources. Must be able to utilize healthcare data to identify progress, performance, and opportunities for improvement in quality, infection control, finance, and other metrics. The Data Scientist II will help the organization translate the data results of reimbursement programs like value-based purchasing, pay-for-performance or insurance incentives into meaningful information and facilitate maximum reimbursement. This position will align quality data with the organization's strategic plan and centralize the consistent roll out of data and information throughout the organization. The Data Scientist II will present data and educate all levels in key quality committees including Quality Council, Medical Staff Quality and Performance Improvement Committee, QAPI, and others. This role defends quality data integrity, provides data governance, and serves as a subject matter expert. The position uses advanced data and performance improvement skills in LEAN/Six Sigma to lead, coach and guide the organization and Quality Department (data and performance improvement teams). The Data Scientist II provides critical decision-support, evidence-based knowledge and technical guidance related to quality, patient safety, financial stability, and community health. Our values ask for a deeper level of commitment, and what is asked of us we freely give because we believe in our mission Required Qualifications: • Degree in Business, information technology, statistics, or healthcare related field • Experience, creating informational threads throughout quality meetings and committees • Deep knowledge in utilizing data to identify organizational progress, performance, and opportunities for improvement • Strong ability to use analytic findings and transform data into meaningful information • Basic understanding of healthcare reimbursement programs like value-based purchasing and Merit Based Incentive Payments Systems (MIPS). • Extensive experience in LEAN/Six Sigma performance improvement tools, achieving Black Belt within three (3) years of hire. • Able to work independently, managing multiple high-priority, time sensitive projects Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in translating data results of reimbursement programs like value-based purchasing, pay-for-performance, or insurance incentives into meaningful information and facilitate maximum reimbursement. • Experience in Cerner build or report writing Duties and Responsibilities: • Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC's Service Standards into their daily work: Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship • Supports the day-to-day operations of the Quality Team and applies analytical techniques to high volume, highdimensionality data from varying sources. • Acts as point person for meeting the data reporting needs of San Juan Health Partners including identification of new regulatory requirements, metric validation, submission of current metrics and reporting of metric compliance. • Acts as administrator of external benchmarking tool including data integrity, data uploads, report generation, interpretation of data, and physician scorecard development. • Acts as administrator of organization Leapfrog data including data integrity, submission, report development, interpretation, and presentation of data analysis to organizational stakeholders. • Acts as the key contact and coordinator for development of Quality Cerner Computer Language (CCL) reports. • Utilize data from various internal and external sources to identify organizational opportunities for improvement. • Utilizes performance excellence methodologies such as LEAM/Six Sigma to lead teams and implement improvements. • Represents his or her work in presentations to all levels in key quality committees including Quality Council, Medical Staff Quality and Performance Improvement Committees, Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI), and others. • Other duties as assigned Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions: • Primarily office environment with daily inclusion in operational environments. • Prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking • Frequent interruptions • Moderate noise level • Interpret an extensive variety of technical documents in mathematical, narrative or diagram form. • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and translate data into information. • Balance fast pace and competing priorities.
