Full Job Description
Canon USA in Melville, NY is currently seeking a Data Scientist, a developing professional, working towards full proficiency. This position works across the company with all Canon business units and departments. In this role a candidate will gather data from a variety of internal and external sources, clean and amalgamate the data, and use programming, math, statistical and analytical skills to interpret data. The role includes working with sales, customer, channel and product data to develop business insights and predictive results to influence executive decisions. This role helps business units and divisions understand customers and market trends, forecasting, and works to improve internal processes through a wide variety of methods and tools. This is a role that requires a diverse set of skills, creative thinking and analytical work, coding, a desire to learn and grow personal skill sets. This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs. Your Impact - Advanced Analytics & Machine Learning: Analyzes complex marketing and consumer behavior problems utilizing internal (CRM, web, sales) and external (market, ad platforms) data sources . Builds, evaluates, and deploys predictive models (e.g., attribution modeling, customer lifetime value, churn forecasting, and trend analysis) using Python and GCP (Vertex AI). - Data Engineering & Cloud Databases: Constructs highly optimized queries and manages complex datasets utilizing BigQuery as the primary database of choice. Cleanses, integrates, and automates pipelines for large, disparate marketing data streams. - Self-Serve Analytics & Visualization: Empowers cross-functional marketing teams by building dynamic, self-serve analytics dashboards in Tableau, translating complex models into actionable, daily strategic insights. - Generative AI & Automation Hubs: Guides the marketing division's understanding, strategy, and adoption of Gemini and Gen AI . Leverages Google Workspace Studio and NotebookLM to compile, synthesize, and centralize marketing intelligence and research. - AI Agents & Customs Bots: Designs, configures, and showcases customized Gems (specialized AI bots) or other AI Solutions to help marketing teams scale repeatable tasks like copywriting, campaign analysis, and translation. Evaluates and deploys AI Agents to optimize marketing operation. - Workspace Automation: Facilitates the team's operational migration to Google Workspace. Automates cross-app marketing workflows (linking Sheets, Gmail, Docs, and Calendar) using Google Apps Script to eliminate manual bottlenecks. - Data Collection/Preparation & Data Analysis/Reporting: Gather large, structured and unstructured datasets. Clean, transform, and preprocess data for analysis. Handle missing data, anomalies, and feature engineering. Analyze business data (sales, marketing, operations). - Predictive & Prescriptive Insights: Forecast trends and outcomes (e.g., churn, sales predictions), Recommend actions based on model outputs. Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. Answer questions like: "What happened?" "Why did performance drop last quarter?" - Programming & Tools: Work with: Python, R, SQL, Machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, Scikit-learn), Use big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) when needed - Data Visualization & Communication: Present complex findings in understandable formats, Build visualizations or dashboards to communicate insights. Create recurring reports and dashboards. Build dashboards using tools like: Power BI, Tableau, Looker. Focus on clarity and usability for business users. - Experimentation: Conduct A/B testing, Design experiments to validate hypotheses - Data Quality & Governance: Ensure consistency and reliability of data. Validate reports and metric. About You: The Skills & Expertise You Bring - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required, plus 3 to 5 years of related experience. Bachelor's degree required in Finance, Mathematics, along with statistical and strong analytical skills and thorough knowledge of MS Office - Experience with data tool such as Python, SAS or SQL preferred - Statistical and or quantitative background preferred - Functional knowledge of analytical tools and report creation technologies preferred Skills Required: - Programming (Python, SQL) - Machine learning & statistics - Data visualization (Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Looker) - Data wrangling and preprocessing - Critical thinking and problem solving - Business acumen and communication skills - Excel/Google Sheets and data analysis techniques - BigQuery experience - Proven Generative AI work experience - Expert at Notebook LM and Google Workspace Studio We are providing the anticipated salary range for this role: $69,300 - $103,770 annually Workstyle Description Hybrid - This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office three days a week and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days).
