JOB DESCRIPTION

Join the Merchant Services Data & Analytics team at JPMorganChase, where we combine data science, research, and business understanding to fuel client-focused innovation. You will apply your technical skills to industry analytics and modern generative artificial intelligence solutions that create measurable impact for Chase Merchant Services clients.

As a Data Scientist Associate at JPMorganChase within Merchant Services Data & Analytics, you will execute analytics projects that generate payments insights and build intelligent solutions that improve payments performance and decision-making. You will partner closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to design and deliver end-to-end capabilities, including conversational assistants and workflow automation built with large language models and agent-based patterns.

Job responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and deliver analytics and automation solutions that improve business processes and client outcomes
  • Build payments insights that help merchants optimize authorization performance, chargebacks, and total cost of payments
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, datasets, and dashboards using tools such as Snowflake, Python, SQL, and Tableau
  • Prototype and iterate on generative artificial intelligence features, including prompt design and refinement aligned to user needs
  • Design, execute, and document testing and evaluation to validate reliability, quality, and effectiveness of solutions
  • Monitor model and solution performance, identify enhancement opportunities, and implement updates to maintain relevance over time
  • Partner with data owners, data engineers, and business stakeholders to support development of data models and analytics methods
  • Support internal insights applications and external merchant insights experiences, including ad hoc client analytics requests

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field (or related discipline)
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in data analytics, data science, or a related role
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing, analysis, and development of repeatable workflows
  • Experience applying quantitative research methods and analytics to real business questions
  • Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts, techniques, and common tooling
  • Experience working with large language models and agent-based artificial intelligence techniques
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with ability to translate goals into clear deliverables
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build partnerships across product, engineering, and business teams

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Experience with rapid prototyping and data application development using Tableau and Streamlit
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services and Snowflake for data management and analysis
  • Understanding of quality assurance practices and approaches that protect data integrity
  • Experience documenting analytic requirements and aligning stakeholders on scope and success measures
  • Attention to detail with a proven ability to learn new concepts and skills quickly.
