Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. We're looking for a Data Scientist II to join our growing team!
What you'll do here:
- Develop Innovative Solutions: Utilize machine learning and advanced statistical methods to identify trends and patterns in complex datasets.
- Data Transformation: Convert complex datasets into actionable insights and recommendations that can drive business strategy.
- Stay Current: Keep up with the latest trends and methodologies in AI, analyzing metrics from usage of AI tools, transforming them into valuable insights, and maintaining dashboard to track those insights over time.
- Tool and Platform Maintenance: Assist in maintaining and improving our data mining tools and platforms to ensure their efficiency and reliability.
- Actionable Recommendations: Make strategic recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to promote the adoption of data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Quality Assurance: Validate the quality of analytical approaches and outputs produced by other team members and departments to ensure high standards.
What you bring to the table:
- Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. mathematics, engineering, operations research, statistics, geomatics, AI), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in advanced statistics, data mining, and text mining.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in multiple platforms, including commercial and open-source data mining frameworks such as Python and GitHub.
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) - integrating with APIs and evaluation techniques.
- Machine Learning Expertise: Deep understanding of machine learning theories and methodologies.
- Teamwork: Strong enthusiasm for working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to tackle vaguely defined problems with creative and innovative solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Time Management: Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English speaking colleagues across the country.
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
