What you'll doThis position is for a Data Scientist within the Selective Etch Product Group based on Fremont, CA.
- Responsible for performing professional process engineering research, development, and evaluation in support of the company's complex semiconductor capital equipment and systems.
- Primary focus from concept and feasibility through onsite equipment evaluation with a balanced approach between advanced data science and 'hands-on' experimentation.
- Develop predictive models derived from early experimentation to infer physical mechanisms within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team.
- Develops advanced test vehicles and applies systematic root cause analysis.
- Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process specifications.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical results clearly to audiences with varied levels of technical expertise.
Who we're looking for- Experience applying advanced data science for process engineering and applications development.
- Desire for lab experimentation to refine data analysis and modeling.
- Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field with a minimum of 0-2 years work experience; Bachelor's degree with a rigorous curriculum and 3+ years work experience may be considered.
Preferred qualifications- Expertise applying AI and machine learning methodologies.
- Expertise with applying data science tools for sparse data.
- Knowledgeable with statistical analysis and modeling including Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Chemistry knowledge and laboratory experience.
- Surface science knowledge a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and ability to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs and deadlines.
- Excellent people skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners.
- Collaboration/ Matrix environment mindset.
Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

SalaryCA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $86,000.00 - $183,000.00.
The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
