Full Job Description
Must Have Technical/Functional Skills

Minimum Qualifications
• Strong SQL experience (Oracle preferred): joins, window functions, CTEs, and performance aware analytical queries.
• MongoDB experience, including aggregation pipelines and understanding schema tradeoffs in document- based systems.
• Hands-on Power BI experience: data models, DAX fundamentals, refresh behavior, and metric validation.
• Solid grounding in statistical reasoning for analytics: distributions, aggregation effects, segmentation, bias detection, and trend interpretation.
• Experience working within an SDLC and analytics delivery lifecycle (Agile/Jira familiarity).
• Strong written and verbal communication: ability to explain complex analytical findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Haves
• Experience with large-scale enterprise analytics or developer productivity metrics.
• Familiarity with BI semantic modeling (star/snowflake, measures vs. dimensions).
• Exposure to Jira, Jenkins, SonarQube, Ansible Tower, or similar engineering tooling.
• Python or similar scripting for exploratory analysis, validation, or repeatable checks.
• Background in data governance, metric stewardship, or analytical standards (definitions, SLAs, lineage).

Roles & Responsibilities

About the Role

We are a data science team focused on measuring and improving software development performance at enterprise scale. We partner closely with engineering, product, and leadership to deliver statistically sound, decision ready insights on metrics like velocity, work-in-progress, lead time, commit cycle time, etc.

In this role, you will focus on metric integrity, analytical correctness, and interpretability across Power BI, Oracle, and MongoDB. Youll evaluate data sources, validate metric behavior over time and across cohorts, identify bias or distortion, and ensure our analytics support defensible conclusions. As you gain fluency in our SDLC and data landscape, youll increasingly advise on methodology, controls, and preventative design improvements, not just issue detection.

What Youll Do
• Validate and analyze software development metrics (e.g., velocity, lead time, cycle time) across Oracle, MongoDB, and Power BI to ensure statistical correctness, consistency, and business meaning.
• Evaluate metric behavior across time windows, cohorts, teams, and repositories; identify anomalies, distribution shifts, and unintended side effects of aggregation or filtering.
• Reconcile metrics back to source-of-truth tables and collections; explain why differences exist and whether they represent data issues, definition gaps, or expected statistical variance.
• Design repeatable analytic checks (sampling strategies, reconciliation logic, boundary analysis, outlier review) that distinguish noise from signal.
• Partner with data engineers, BI developers, and product analysts to assess the analytical impact of pipeline changes, modeling decisions, or definition updates.
• Diagnose Power BI modeling and DAX patterns that affect metric interpretation, trend stability, or performance.
• Produce clear, structured narratives for stakeholders: what the data shows, what it does not show, confidence level, assumptions, and known limitations.
• Contribute to metric standards, documentation, and analytic guardrails that support trustworthy, scalable reporting.
