Full Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for defining and supporting the workspace process and technologies that teams use to source, transform and manifest data. The DataOps engineer will provide data engineers and business units with guidance and design support around workflows and information pipelines, code reviews and all new processes and workflows utilizing data.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design optimal cloud-hybrid Big Data/Data Warehouse data pipelines & orchestration architectures to migrate existing solutions from on premise to cloud, and to initiate new cloud data solutions.
  • Analyze current technology utilized within the company and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them.
  • Establish milestones for necessary contributions from departments and develop processes to facilitate their collaboration.
  • Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other members of the team.
  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including materials, manpower and time necessary.
  • Provide clear goals for all areas of a project and develop steps to oversee their timely execution.
  • Work closely with engineering professionals within the company to maintain hardware and software needed for projects to be completed efficiently.
  • Mentor and train other engineers throughout the company and seek to continually improve processes companywide.
  • Work alongside project management teams to successfully monitor progress and implementation of initiatives.
  • Mentor and coach peers on cloud technologies.
  • Exhibit work consistent with the software development lifecycle, including Agile and Kanban.
  • Perform other job-related functions as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

DEGREE TYPE: Master's Degree

FIELD(S) OF STUDY: Technical, MIS or related business degree from an accredited institution of study; or any equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 4 years' experience developing and implementing data warehouses, data systems or cloud-based solutions (IaaS, PaaS). Experience with Python, Bash or Spark, SQL, git, Terraform, Puppet, Docker/K8s, and Agile methods & tools like JIRA. Experience with message brokers such as Event Hubs or Kafka.

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:
  • Excellent understanding of Windows and Linux based infrastructure.
  • Experience with traditional on-prem virtual and physical infrastructure, as well as AWS EC2 instances.
  • Configuration and management of databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, HANA, Snowflake.
  • Awareness of critical concepts in DevOps and Agile principles.
  • Experience in working with databases and data warehouses.
  • Working knowledge of various tools, open-source technologies, and cloud services.
  • Knowledge of Load and Performance test practices.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize accordingly and make decisions as required.
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Be highly collaborative, team-oriented and a strong consensus builder.
