General Position Summary:

This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the University of Arizona Foundation's enterprise data integration and master data framework. The position architects and implements scalable data pipelines, enforces data governance and quality standards, and ensures reliable data movement across internal and external systems. It serves as a technical owner within the integration ecosystem, collaborating with application development, analytics, and infrastructure teams to uphold best practices and advance the Foundation's mission.

We are seeking a technically driven developer with hands-on experience in data integration, master data management, and enterprise ETL workflows. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong engineering discipline, the ability to rapidly master new integration patterns and technologies, and the capacity to diagnose and resolve complex data issues. This role requires autonomy, precision, and a proactive approach to optimizing data systems, while partnering effectively across cross-functional teams.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
  • Designs, builds, and deploys data ingestion, transformation, and delivery pipelines using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server, and related platform tools.
  • Maintains and enhances the enterprise data integration framework, ensuring stability, scalability, and data integrity across interconnected systems.
  • Evaluates complex technical challenges, conducts root-cause analysis, and implements durable, efficient solutions.
  • Develops procedures, automation schedules, and integration logic to support source-to-target mappings, synchronization processes, and master data stewardship.
  • Participates in cross-team coordination to ensure timely delivery of integration features and enhancements.
  • Provides technical guidance and support for data-related requests, system incidents, and production troubleshooting.
  • Documents system architecture, pipeline logic, and development standards to support long-term maintainability.
  • Participates in the prioritization and coordination of responses to requests for assistance or support from end users.

This position has contact with employees of the Foundation and members of the UA Development Team and campus community who are engaged in the use of Foundation systems and data, as well as vendors of systems, software, and applicable services.

Specific Job Skills:
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data integration concepts, MDM principles, and ETL development methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing data pipelines within SQL Server, SSIS, or similar ETL frameworks.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency, including query optimization, transformation logic, stored procedures, and data reconciliation.
  • Ability to detect and resolve data anomalies, enforce data-quality rules, and optimize system interoperability.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data-warehouse environments, dimensional modeling, and data-governance standards.
  • Proven ability to standardize schemas, eliminate duplication, and improve data accuracy and system reliability.
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for evaluating complex integration scenarios and identifying systemic improvements.
  • Proficiency with Git or equivalent version control tools for managing code, releases, and collaborative development.
  • Exceptional technical communication skills, with the ability to clearly translate engineering concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and discretion when working with confidential information.
  • Adaptability to emerging technologies, evolving business requirements, and new integration patterns.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in master data, data integration framework, and ETL tools.
  • Experience negotiating data policy and implementing data user compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise data warehouse architecture.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field (Business Intelligence, Information Science, Computer Science, Nonprofit Management, etc.) OR
  • A minimum of one (1) year of professional work-related experience OR,
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in related field (Business Intelligence, Information Science/Systems, Computer Science, Nonprofit Management). Demonstrated experience implementing and/or supporting an organizational data management program.
  • Experience with Azure or AWS Cloud infrastructure.
