Position Title: Data Engineering Manager
Location: Reston, VA
I: Essential Job Functions: - Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of the company's enterprise data platform. (15%)
- Leading development of data warehouses and data lakes on cloud-native data platforms. (13%)
- Architecting, and scripting large-scale data pipelines, and leveraging tools like Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Cloud (Azure Data Factory, Functions etc.), and ADLS to support business applications in the environment.(10%)
- Securing critical datasets related to customer POI, home sales data, and mortgage trends. (11%)
- Establish and maintain data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality and integrity. (13%)
- Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies, continuously evaluating, and adopting innovative solutions to enhance the company's data capabilities.(8%)
- Collaborate with the internal teams to integrate and oversee internal and vendor data systems ensuring data correctness. (8%)
- Support the Enterprise Data Analytics Platform (EDAP) team in their mission to build a best-in-class data platform for a growing homebuilder. (6%)
- Responsible for developing transformation logic and supporting data management efforts using resources on Microsoft Azure. (5%)
- Support the maintenance, synchronization, wrangling, and migration of data across a hybrid environment. (3%)
- Collaborate to understand, analyze, document, and efficiently implement data pipelines for even-based data replication, including micro-batch and batch-based data pipelines. (3%)
- Establish methods to enrich the platform with new sources of information that support analytics and web application data delivery needs. (3%)
- Actively participate with broader team to enhance capabilities of the data platform, including strengthening analytical work flows executing on Staley Martin's Business Intelligence tool (Looker). (2%)
II: Education and Experience Required:- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field plus 6 years of industry experience in data engineering with 3 of those years applying to real estate construction.
III. Special Skills Required:- Proficient in homebuilder ERP platforms such as NEWSTAR and HomebuilderOne, which objective of establishing data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and data quality checks.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Finance and Operations 365, Lifecycle Services, Synapse Link, Power Apps, and BYOD required.
- Deep hands-on experience with cloud data platforms: Snowflake, Databricks, AWS Redshift, or Azure Synapse.
- Experience with data migration and conversion tools like SnowConvert
- Proficient in using Python, Jinja, SQL, NoSQL, PowerShell, PySpark, Scala, and secure REST services.
- Proficiency in using cloud platforms like Azure, GCP, or AWS.
- Expertise in designing modern data architecture using tools like Coalesce, Fivetran, dbt Labs, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, and Orchestra.
- Familiarity with BI and reporting tools like Looker, Sigma, Workiva, and Vena
- Deep knowledge of large-scale distributed data architecture patterns and data governance principles.
- Deep expertise in strategizing, planning, program management, and technical architecture for large-scale data modernization.
- Deep expertise in building data pipelines, data warehouses, and BI solutions for the homebuilding industry.
- Proficiency in developing and debugging complex data pipelines, ETLs, and workflows on cloud platforms optimized for high volumes of homebuilding data.
- Expertise in Open-source Data Technologies in processing, storage, data quality - Iceberg, Delta Lake, Apache Flink, Kafka.
- Proficiency with CI/CD tooling like Jenkins, Airflow, Kubernetes, and Git/GitHub to enable robust development pipelines for business applications.
Salary: $134,000.00 to $149,100.00 per year. Telecommuting Permitted.
