What You Will Do:

Guidehouse is seeking a Data Engineer (Senior Consultant) to support a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) data modernization initiative. This role will focus on building and maintaining modern, scalable data pipelines and lakehouse architectures that enable secure, compliant, and high-performance processing of federal health data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines within Databricks-based environments
  • Implement and manage medallion (multi-layered lakehouse) data architectures (bronze, silver, gold)
  • Build scalable data pipelines to process large, complex datasets, including structured and semi-structured data
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data scientists, analysts, SMEs, and CMS stakeholders) to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Ensure data quality, lineage, and governance through validation, monitoring, and documentation
  • Optimize performance and efficiency of data processing workflows in cloud-based environments
  • Support data integration and modernization efforts aligned with CMS EIPM objectives
  • Participate in Agile development practices, including sprint planning and backlog management

What You Will Need:

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • A minimum of FOUR (4) years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related technical roles
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data engineering and transformation workloads
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and large-scale data processing environments
  • Experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines
  • Experience working with medallion/lakehouse architectures (bronze, silver, gold)
  • Experience working with relational and/or distributed data systems, including data modeling
  • Experience with CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Git-based workflows)
  • Familiarity with version control and collaboration tools, including Git, Jira, and Confluence
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Experience working with healthcare data, such as claims, eligibility, or clinical datasets
  • Experience supporting CMS, HHS, or other federal health programs
  • Experience working with state government data programs
  • Familiarity with data governance, privacy, and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA)
  • Experience supporting data modernization or cloud migration initiatives

The annual salary range for this position is $85,000.00-$141,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
