Position Summary

Status: Full-Time, Hyrbid , 2 days/week on site

Location: Downtown Orlando

Shift: Monday-Friday, working hours between 8am-5pm

Position Summary

The Data/BI Architect owns the end-to-end design of the enterprise data architecture on the Azure Enterprise Data Platform, balancing optimized data access and consumption performance against ingestion cadence, pipeline throughput, and compute/cost utilization within Databricks. Knowledgeable in all aspects of designing and constructing data warehouses and lakehouse-based data, operational data stores, and data marts that enable informational, analytical management inquiry of well-integrated, subject-oriented historical data. Focuses primarily on logical and physical data modeling and database design across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers - source-aligned raw capture, cleansed and conformed dimensional structures, and business-ready certified consumption models - along with metadata definitions, conformed dimensions, and the enterprise metric framework that establishes single-source-of-truth definitions across the organization.Serves as team leader in the integration of solutions, constructing data warehouse applications, developing new business opportunities, and building relationships with clients.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
  • Develops custom data models, algorithms, visualizations, and reports and builds measurement and predictive models related to business metrics.
  • Design relational databases to perform well logically and physically for decision support
  • Coordinate new data development and make sure it is consistent and well integrated with existing warehouse structure
  • Know star/crystal schemata and fine tune very large databases (VLDBs) for complex queries
  • Design key and indexing schemes
  • Business analysis, event modeling, data modeling, logical and physical database design, data acquisition analysis and design, data access analysis and design, DBMS optimization, archive and recovery strategy, load strategy design and implementation, security, and change management
  • Source data from legacy systems and load it into the warehouse
  • Effectively adapt to and apply rapidly changing technology to business needs
  • Experience in entity relationship data modeling, with experience using data modeling tools.

  • Analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives and solve problems that involve remote and elusive symptoms, often spanning multiple environments in a business area
  • Participates in work stream planning process including inception, technical design, development, validation, and delivery of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions.
  • Leads functional / project teams to identify areas of improvement, implement improvement initiatives, and monitor results.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative, supportive, and professional relationships with leadership, physicians, vendors, project stakeholders, and team members.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions
  • Serves as technical leader for cross-domain integration and harmonization toward a Unified Data Model, guiding Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Epic Analytics, and Power BI teams through architectural review, design patterns, and standards that reduce data debt, rework, and metric ambiguity. Partners with governance, clinical, and business stakeholders to translate enterprise objectives into intentional, reusable data design that scales with platform maturity.
  • Additional responsibility includes business and domain analysis, data acquisition and ingestion design across batch, API, file, and near-real-time (HL7/FHIR) source patterns; source-to-target mapping and data contract definition; Unity Catalog governance, security, and PHI/HIPAA-aligned access design; Databricks SQL and pipeline optimization; data quality, lineage, and observability standards; and replayable, failure-isolated load strategy design and implementation.

Qualifications

Education/ Training
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Associate's degree and two (2) years of directly related work experience may substitute for the Bachelor's degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of directly related work experience may also substitute for the Bachelor's degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section).


Experience
  • Eight (8) years of experience in IT with relational database management systems (RDBMSs), with a minimum of four (4) years in data warehouse design of logical and physical models.
  • Two (2) years of experience with business intelligence structures and systems (e.g. data mining, ODS, analytical tools).
  • DBA experience with some or all: Unix, SQL, Informix, Oracle, Sybase. Business Intelligence: Extensive experience developing requirements for BI, Balanced Scorecard or Advanced Analytics applications.
  • In-depth experience designing/implementing relational database solutions
  • Experience in several of the following areas is essential:
  • Data modeling techniques

  • Data replication products and technology
  • Data access software
  • Database performance optimization
  • Mainframe data migration
