Full Job Description
Responsibilities

The Project Management Office for Aircraft Survivability Equipment (PMO ASE) is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Data and Analytics Engineer. This role is critical to the development, testing, and fielding of advanced survivability systems that protect Army aviators and rotary-wing aircraft from emerging global threats.

The successful candidate will leverage deep technical expertise in engineering, physics, optics, and statistical analysis to evaluate sensor performance, countermeasure effectiveness, and overall system reliability. This role requires extensive travel to government test ranges, contractor facilities, and military installations to actively participate in test events, oversee data collection, and provide analytical and forensic insights to inform decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis & Modeling:Perform rigorous statistical data analysis on complex datasets derived from lab, flight, and field testing of ASE systems (e.g., missile warning systems, laser detection systems, and infrared countermeasures).
  • Physics & Optics Application:Apply principles of physics and optics to evaluate the performance of electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensors, laser warning receivers, and directed energy countermeasures against simulated and live threats.
  • Test & Evaluation Support:Travel to support developmental and operational testing. Ensure data collection methodologies are sound and that data pipelines from test events are established and maintained.
  • Algorithm Evaluation:Analyze and validate threat detection algorithms, tracking software, and countermeasure dispensing logic using historical and newly collected test data.
  • Reporting & Visualization: Develop data visualization dashboards and comprehensive technical reports to communicate system performance, anomalies, and risk assessments to PM ASE leadership and stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work closely with systems engineers, flight test crews, software developers, and industry partners to translate data insights into actionable system improvements.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or higher degree in Engineering (e.g., Aerospace, Electrical, Optical, Systems, or a closely related discipline) from an ABET-accredited institution + 2 years of experience.
  • Clearance: Active Secret or the ability to receive Secreat Clearance.
  • Technical Skills:Proficiency with data analysis and scientific computing tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R, or similar) to process large datasets, perform statistical modeling, and generate data visualizations.
  • Travel Capability: Must be willing and able to travel to support nationwide test events, often in remote field environments.
  • Communication:Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex mathematical and physical concepts into clear, actionable briefings for leadership.
Target Salary Range$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individuals experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
