Full Job Description
Description

The Data Analytics Manager leads USA Truck's data and analytics function, owning enterprise reporting and data infrastructure end to end. This role manages a team of developers and database professionals, and serves as the primary partner to Operations, Finance, and executive leadership for turning raw data into decisions. This is a hands-on leadership role: the Data Analytics Manager is expected to both manage people and stay close to the SQL, Power BI, and data pipeline work itself. The role reports to Director, IT.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide hands-on technical management, guidance, and support for the team's developers and database administrator, staying close enough to the work to unblock it, not just manage it from a distance.
  • Represent the data & analytics function wherever deep knowledge of USA Truck's data is needed - cross-functional projects, executive reviews, and technical planning sessions.
  • Take full ownership of enterprise Power BI reporting, consolidating reporting currently spread across ad hoc spreadsheets and a single non-dedicated analyst into a small number of trusted, single-source-of-truth reports used company-wide.
  • Oversee the team's SQL database environments (Azure-hosted) in partnership with the DBA's, ensuring performance, reliability, and sound data architecture as new sources and pipelines come online.
  • Own data integration and pipeline work supporting core systems (TMW/Trimble TMS, TMT, Great Plains, and others), working closely with the EDI and application development teams.
  • Analyze complex operational and financial data sets to surface effectiveness gaps and operational opportunities for leadership.
  • Proactively evaluate company initiatives for effectiveness and quality, rather than reporting on results only after the fact.
  • Develop and enforce data quality and governance standards, and identify business owners for key data domains as needed.
  • Hire, coach, mentor, and develop team members (FTE and contract), including onboarding and career development planning as the function grows.
  • Own timely, quality delivery of reporting and data projects from request through to something the business actually trusts and uses.
  • Work with the VP, IT and business stakeholders to prioritize and re-prioritize the data & analytics backlog.
  • Research and evaluate new tools, platforms, and practices that advance the data & analytics function as the company scales.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Oversee EDI integrations

  • Prior experience managing or mentoring a technical team, or clear readiness to step into people management.
  • A track record of taking fragmented, duplicative reporting and consolidating it into clean, trusted sources of truth.
  • Strong communication skills; able to present clearly and confidently to executives and operations leaders.
  • Ability to juggle multiple work assignments and prioritize competing requests.
