We're seeking someone to join our team as a Junior Data Analyst in NFR Data & Analytics to support data wrangling, reconciliation, and reporting workflows for Crypto-related investigative analytics within our Financial Crime Risk program.
In the Legal & Compliance division, we assist the Firm in achieving its business objectives by facilitating and overseeing the Firm's management of legal, regulatory and franchise risk. This is an Analyst level position within the NFR Data & Analytics team, which supports Financial Crime and Fraud stakeholders by delivering data preparation, analytics, and reporting used in investigative workflows.
What you'll do in the role:- Perform foundational data wrangling and preparation across datasets related to Fraud, GFC, and blockchain transactions.
- Assist in data reconciliation and validation activities to ensure accuracy and completeness of investigation datasets
- Support the creation and maintenance of reporting outputs and recurring analytical deliverables.
- Work with senior analysts to prepare datasets for investigative workflows, including structuring and cleaning data for downstream use
- Conduct data quality checks and basic issue identification, escalating data inconsistencies or anomalies as appropriate
- Support cross-functional data needs by collaborating with stakeholders across Fraud, GFC, and Technology teams
- Assist in handling restricted datasets accessible only to US-based staff, ensuring adherence to data governance and access controls
- Contribute to production reporting support, including recurring data refreshes and validation tasks
- Document data processes, assumptions, and transformations in a clear, audit-ready format
What you'll bring to the role:- 0-3+ years of experience in data analysis, data wrangling, or related analytical roles
- Working knowledge of SQL or similar query languages; exposure to data tools (e.g., Python, Alteryx, Excel) is a plus
- Basic understanding of data validation, reconciliation, and data quality practices
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in data accuracy and control-oriented environments
- Ability to work with structured and semi-structured datasets in a regulated setting
- Interest in Financial Crime and Crypto-related analytics
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow requirements and translate data into structured outputs
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a team-oriented, deadline-driven environment
- Willingness to learn new tools, datasets, and analytical approaches in a rapidly evolving domain
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $80,000 and $100,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
