Summary:

Goldbelt Professional Services is seeking a Data Analyst II to provide programmatic and scientific technical assistance to CDC SMEs on the execution of studies relating to healthcare infections and antibiotic stewardship.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Apply analytic expertise to work with electronic health data sources (Premier Healthcare Data, Truveta, Medicare claims, MarketScan, NHSN, and national/state inpatient data files) to examine HAI and antibiotic stewardship questions.
  • Conduct quality control and manipulation of databases, including merging, managing, and updating data; generate standard reports; perform data quality reviews and editing/cleaning.
  • Create and submit code (e.g., PySpark, R, Python, SAS, SQL) and use platforms (e.g., Databricks, 1CDP, Virtual Research Data Center) for complex querying, data exploration, manipulation, and statistical/epidemiological analyses.
  • Facilitate programming and data management for dashboards, tables, charts, and data visualizations contributing to scientific communications and publications.
  • Develop data dictionaries, data management plans, and data analysis plans; document analytic approaches, methods, and results.
  • Support data systems in accordance with best practices, information technology, and records-keeping regulations.
  • Support new acquisitions and renewals of healthcare data sources by developing data request packages and scientific research approvals (e.g., IRB).
  • Co-author up to two (2) scientific manuscripts for publication per year.
  • Participate in and/or coordinate virtual or in-person meetings, conferences, 1–2 site visits, and/or webinars.
  • Participate during CDC response activities and training exercises under direction of the DHQP Team Lead; duties include staffing the EOC desk to help support CDC's mission.
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the principles, concepts, methods, and techniques of public health research and evaluation to analyze, evaluate, and provide expert advice and consultation.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, applications, and state-of-the-art technology in the position's scientific area of responsibility to provide direction and guidance on critical and complex issues.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to make clear, convincing presentations.
  • Knowledge of the rules, procedures, and principles that govern intramural and extramural program development, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint).
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making; capable of working independently with ability to multitask successfully.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication in interpersonal exchanges.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree plus 3–5 years of relevant work experience in a relevant public health or quantitative field.
  • Highly proficient in using various statistical software (SAS, R, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data management systems and application of data management software.
  • Previous experience working with the government procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD plus 5+ years of relevant work experience in a relevant public health or quantitative field.
  • Prior experience working with the CDC is highly desired to understand the culture and environment.

 

Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $100,000 annually.
