The Actuarial Systems Data & Reporting team is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to help support US actuarial reporting, data analysis, and reporting modernization work. This role will work closely with the US Reporting Steward, Actuarial teams, and Global Systems & Data partners to understand business needs, investigate data issues, and deliver practical reporting solutions.
The work will include querying and analyzing data using SQL, Qlik, and Power BI; improving existing reports and controls; and helping build new solutions that support Quarter-end and Year-end valuation processes. The role will also help manage change requests by supporting intake, prioritization, tracking, and follow-up through JIRA.
Position Responsibilities:
Technical (Data, Analytics, and Reporting)
• Write, review, and optimize SQL queries to pull, transform, and validate large datasets from warehouse and data lake environments
• Review Quarter-end and Year-end valuation data to identify trends, explain variances, and investigate data anomalies
• Build and maintain data models that support QlikView and Power BI reporting
• Create and improve dashboards used for reporting, reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Validate and reconcile data across source systems, reporting layers, and downstream outputs
• Help automate recurring data checks and controls to improve accuracy and reduce manual effort
• Troubleshoot data issues by tracing logic across ETL steps, source data, and reporting dependencies
• Support SIT and UAT by validating results, documenting findings, and confirming that business requirements are met
• Document data lineage and source-to-target mappings so logic is clear, traceable, and audit-ready
• Work with platforms such as Azure SQL, Data Lake, and Databricks as part of reporting and data analysis work
• Use Python where helpful for analysis, automation, or repeatable data checks
Project / Change Management / Coordination
• Work with business and technical teams to turn reporting needs into clear, actionable requirements
• Help manage enhancement requests in JIRA, including intake, prioritization, tracking, and follow-up
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as backlog refinement, sprint planning, and status updates
• Coordinate SIT and UAT activities with business users, developers, and other partners
• Communicate data issues clearly, explain the impact, and help identify practical next steps
• Support release readiness, deployment validation, and post-release checks
• Look for opportunities to simplify reporting processes, reduce manual work, and improve controls
• Keep documentation current for requirements, testing, decisions, and governance needs
Required Qualifications:
Technical Skills & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field
• 2-5 years of hands-on experience writing SQL queries and working with large datasets
• Good understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and how data moves through reporting layers
• Experience building or supporting reports in QlikView, Power BI, or similar BI tools
• Ability to analyze data, investigate issues, and explain findings clearly
• Exposure to Azure SQL, Data Lake, or Databricks is helpful
• Python or a similar scripting language is preferred, especially for automation or repeatable analysis
• Comfortable turning business questions into data analysis, reporting logic, or dashboard requirements
Project, Collaboration & Delivery
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with both business and technical partners
• Experience working in an Agile environment or supporting sprint-based delivery
• Familiarity with JIRA or a similar tool for tracking work and managing requests
• Experience supporting SIT, UAT, or other testing and validation cycles
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, especially during Quarter-end and Year-end reporting periods
• Proactive, practical, and willing to look for better ways to get the work done
Preferred Qualifications:
• Exposure to actuarial, finance, or regulatory reporting environments
• Experience supporting data modernization or reporting transformation initiatives
• Understanding of data governance, controls, audit requirements, or traceability needs
