About this role:

As a Data Analyst you will be a key member of Borrowell's Data Analytics Team. Your role will be pivotal in informing new marketing and product initiatives and powering the recommendations we personalize to each of our 3+ million members.

You'll provide a window into business performance and help to make recommendations on what we build next. You can expect to be responsible for creating and managing insights, experimentations, forecasting, and reporting for various business partners at Borrowell. You'll monitor existing key performance indicators, explore new areas of data to drive business growth and product development, and make company data accessible, insightful and actionable to the different business divisions.

This role specifically focuses on being a data thought partner to a designated Product Manager and related cross-functional Product pod (in-house folks in engineering, devops, QA, mobile, and more).

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Modeling & Infrastructure: Build, maintain, and optimize data models daily using SQL and dbt to ensure a robust, high-quality data infrastructure.
  • Reporting & Forecasting: Deliver business reporting, forecasting, and actionable insights to guide business decisions, leveraging Looker (or similar BI tools).
  • End-to-End Experimentation: Design, analyze, and validate statistical experiments to support product and business initiatives.
  • Data Proficiency: Write clean, efficient SQL queries using joins, aggregates, subqueries, and window functions to query and structure complex datasets.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Partner cross-functionally to translate complex analytics into clear, actionable business recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

Nice to Have
  • Undergraduate (or higher) degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Science, Eng, or Social Sciences).
  • Basic knowledge of Python (numpy, pandas, statsmodels, matplotlib, seaborn) or R (tidyverse: dplyr, data.table, ggplot2...etc.)
  • Proven experience interpreting data and translating analytical results into impactful business strategies.

We are remote-first across Canada with an office in Toronto. This role requires you to attend in-person meetings and team-building events. While this role is remote, we are currently only able to hire candidates physically located in Ontario, BC, or Alberta.

The budgeted annual salary range for this role is $75,000 - $125,000 CAD. Starting pay is determined by the candidate's relevant experience and skills. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for Borrowell's full benefits package.
