Job Summary
- Examine and interpret gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens accurately and efficiently, following established laboratory procedures.
- Issue final diagnoses for negative GYN cytology cases; submit all non-GYN results for pathologist review and final report release.
- Verify specimen acceptability and patient identification throughout all processing stages.
- Maintain quality control (QC), proficiency testing, and CLIA/DHMH compliance documentation in a timely and organized manner.
- Assist with fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures-prepare and stain slides for evaluation.
- Accurately input test requests and results into Cerner while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with pathologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, contributing to a collaborative lab culture.
Credentials:
Essential:
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Medical Technology, or related field.
Certification: Cytotechnologist (ASCP)
