Cybersecurity Engineer II

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Engineer II to support cybersecurity operations through system hardening, vulnerability management, STIG implementation, and remediation activities across enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience securing Windows and Linux systems in accordance with DoD cybersecurity standards and best practices.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mission systems while supporting compliance with Department of Defense cybersecurity requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform system hardening activities on Windows and Linux operating systems in accordance with DoD security requirements and industry best practices.
  • Implement and maintain Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) across supported systems and environments.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments using the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) tool and related cybersecurity tools.
  • Analyze, prioritize, and remediate cybersecurity vulnerabilities and security findings.
  • Apply vendor patches, security updates, and remediation actions for Linux and Windows environments.
  • Support cybersecurity compliance initiatives and continuous monitoring activities.
  • Maintain documentation related to system configurations, remediation efforts, and cybersecurity assessments.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity teams to resolve security issues and strengthen system security posture.
  • Support audits, inspections, and cybersecurity reviews as required.

Required Qualifications

Education & Certifications
  • Minimum certification as DoDD 8140.01 541 (or equivalent as required by the applicable Technical Instruction) at the Basic level, or successor requirement.
  • All personnel performing as Privileged Users must maintain a final adjudicated Tier 5 security investigation with an IT Level I designation in JPAS and/or DISS.

Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of cybersecurity experience performing system hardening activities.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining STIG compliance.
  • Hands-on experience performing vulnerability assessments using ACAS.
  • Demonstrated experience remediating vulnerability findings, including applying vendor patches and security updates on both Windows and Linux operating systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting DoD or federal government environments.
  • Familiarity with RMF, vulnerability management processes, and cybersecurity compliance standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Clearance Requirements
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the required security clearance and privileged user access requirements associated with the position.
