Full Job Description
The Cybersecurity Engineer will help own security operations across detection, investigation, incident response, remediation, and continuous improvement. This is not a monitoring-only role. The ideal candidate is a hands-on security professional who can independently triage and resolve security events, tune detection tools, reduce alert noise, and partner with IT teams to strengthen CPI's security posture. This role works across endpoint, identity, email, network, cloud, and hybrid environments to improve threat detection, incident response processes, and overall operational security. This role is 100% on-site, in-office, at our South Charlotte company headquarters. What You'll Do: • Support security alert triage, investigations, containment, remediation, and documentation. • Assist with incident response and root-cause analysis. • Tune security alerts, improve detection accuracy, and reduce false positives. • Support vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and security control improvements. • Administer and secure on-premises Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID. • Investigate identity, endpoint, server, network, email, and cloud security issues. • Partner with infrastructure teams to address security risks and technical weaknesses. • Identify opportunities to improve or automate security processes. • Document findings and communicate risks to technical teams and leadership. What We're Looking For: • Required career progression from Help Desk or technical support to Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer. • At least three years of experience in systems administration or systems engineering, including one to two years of cybersecurity experience. • Experience with on-premises Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Windows systems, Microsoft 365, and hybrid environments. • Knowledge of incident response, vulnerability management, identity security, system hardening, and security monitoring. • Understanding of network security, including firewalls, VPNs, DNS, and segmentation. • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills. • PowerShell, Python, or similar automation experience. • Azure or AWS security experience. • Exposure to security automation, SOAR workflows, or detection engineering. • Interest in AI-driven security capabilities and emerging security operations technologies.
