Title:

Cyber & Cross Domain Solution (CDS) Systems Engineer

KBR is seeking an experienced Cyber & Cross Domain Solution (CDS) Systems Engineer to support the MSEIT contract at Space Systems Command (SSC).

This role focuses on defining, evaluating, integrating, and supporting secure data movement and cybersecurity strategies across multiple mission and operational environments supporting U.S. Space Force capabilities.

The position will help guide the program’s cross-domain and cybersecurity approach across environments including IL5, IL6, air-gapped mission systems, and Mission Partner Environment (MPE). The role includes evaluating existing Cross Domain Solutions (CDSs), leveraging emerging technologies and cloud-native capabilities where appropriate, and helping define future CDS architectures and implementation strategies.

The role also supports broader cybersecurity initiatives including CI/CD vulnerability remediation workflows, cyber strategy development, program protection planning, operational cyber exercises, and mission assurance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Cross Domain Solution Strategy – Evaluate, define, and support implementation of Cross Domain Solutions (CDSs) supporting mission and operational data flows across multiple security domains.
  • CDS Architecture Support – Assess existing and emerging CDS technologies including:
    • Traditional CDS platforms
    • Data diodes
    • Cloud-native security and data movement capabilities
    • Mission-specific secure transfer architectures
  • Multi-Domain Coordination – Support data movement and integration strategies across:
    • IL5 environments
    • IL6 environments
    • Air-gapped mission systems
    • Mission Partner Environment (MPE)
  • Technology Evaluation – Help identify opportunities to leverage existing enterprise services and technologies while defining new CDS capabilities where required.
  • Cybersecurity Integration – Work with software, infrastructure, DevSecOps, and operational teams to ensure cybersecurity requirements remain aligned with mission delivery objectives.
  • CI/CD Vulnerability Remediation – Support improvement of CI/CD vulnerability remediation processes, CVE management workflows, and secure software delivery practices.
  • Cyber Strategy Support – Participate in development and refinement of cyber strategies, security roadmaps, and mission assurance approaches across the program.
  • Program Protection Planning – Contribute cybersecurity expertise to Program Protection Plan (PPP) activities, risk assessments, and system protection discussions.
  • Cyber Exercise Participation – Support COOP exercises, cyber readiness activities, operational risk reviews, and related mission assurance events.
  • Stakeholder Coordination – Interface with cyber organizations, operational stakeholders, software teams, infrastructure teams, and Government leadership to support cybersecurity alignment across the program.

Required

  • 10+ years of experience supporting cybersecurity, cross-domain solutions, secure system integration, or mission assurance activities within DoD environments
  • Strong understanding of Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) and secure data movement architectures
  • Experience working across multiple classified and mission network environments
  • Familiarity with IL5, IL6, air-gapped systems, and/or Mission Partner Environment (MPE)
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity activities within modern software delivery or DevSecOps environments
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, CVE remediation processes, and vulnerability management workflows
  • Experience participating in cyber strategy, mission assurance, or system protection activities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills across technical, operational, and Government organizations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Desired

  • Active Secret or higher clearance
  • Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, math, physics, information systems or related technical field
  • Experience supporting Space Systems Command (SSC), Space Operations Command (SpOC/CFC), or related U.S. Space Force programs
  • Familiarity with cloud-native security architectures and Kubernetes-based mission platforms
  • Experience evaluating or integrating data diodes or hardware-enforced secure transfer solutions
  • Familiarity with RMF, continuous monitoring, cATO, or related cybersecurity authorization approaches
  • Experience supporting Program Protection Plans (PPP), cybersecurity assessments, or operational risk evaluations
  • Familiarity with SATCOM systems, mission systems, or operational C2 environments
  • Experience supporting hybrid Government/contractor integration environments
  • Familiarity with cyber operations exercises, continuity planning, or operational resilience activities
  • Experience supporting multi-domain operational environments or coalition mission systems
  • Exposure to AI-enabled mission systems or secure AI infrastructure environments
  • Experience supporting software factory or cloud-native delivery ecosystems
  • Familiarity with automated policy enforcement, runtime security, or zero-trust architectures
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CASP+, Security+, or related cybersecurity credentials
  • Certifications such as INCOSE CSEP/ESEP

Basic Compensation:  $162,000 - $200,000 in El Segundo and $148,000 - $185,000 in Colorado Springs

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
