Full Job Description
The Role

As our Customs Compliance Manager, you will lead and manage all U.S. customs and trade compliance activities, ensuring our import and export activities remain compliant, efficient, and cost-effective.

You will serve as the primary U.S. trade compliance authority for the business, and will be responsible for interpreting regulatory requirements, governing compliance programs, and translating trade impacts into business decisions. With a portfolio of more than 6,000 SKUs sourced globally, including finished goods and spare parts, this role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance readiness and cost visibility throughout the product lifecycle.

Working cross-functionally with Finance, Product, Planning, Logistics, Procurement, IT, Global Supply Chain, and brokers to manage regulatory risk, protect margin, and support growth initiatives.

This role is ideal for a trade compliance professional who enjoys serving as the regulatory authority for a business, balancing compliance requirements, tariff impacts, operational execution, and commercial decision-making in a dynamic global environment.

You Will

Trade Compliance & Regulatory Management

  • Own U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications, country of origin determinations, and Free Trade Agreement (FTA) eligibility across the product portfolio.


  • Interpret and apply tariff regulations, including Section 232, Section 301, Chapter 99, and anti-dumping/countervailing duty requirements.


  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and partner government agency requirements.


  • Lead responses to audits, inquiries, post-summary corrections, and disclosures.


  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and compliance records.


  • Monitor and interpret evolving U.S. trade regulations and CBP guidance, and lead cross-functional implementation of required changes.


Customs Operations & Broker Management

  • Manage customs broker relationships and establish performance expectations and governance processes.


  • Define and track key performance indicators for broker performance, including entry accuracy, clearance cycle times, and error rates.


  • Review customs entry accuracy and resolve classification, valuation, and documentation issues.


  • Act as the primary escalation point for customs clearance issues, compliance risks, and service concerns.


  • Ensure alignment between internal systems, shipping documentation, and broker declarations.


Trade Cost & Financial Management

  • Validate duty rates and landed cost assumptions for imported products.


  • Analyze tariff exposure, duty costs, and compliance-related financial risks.


  • Lead drawback, refund, and duty recovery initiatives.


  • Quantify and communicate impact of regulatory changes and classification decisions to Finance and business leaders.


  • Support sourcing, pricing, and product strategy decisions through informed trade compliance guidance.


Data Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Own the accuracy of trade-related master data, including HTS classifications, country of origin, duty rates, and FTA information.


  • Develop and maintain governance processes that support data integrity; ERP and broker system alignment, and auditability.


  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance compliance, reporting, and operational efficiency.


  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, training materials, and audit-ready documentation that scales with business growth.


Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Provide guidance on compliance risks, trade costs, and regulatory requirements to Finance, Product, Procurement, and business leaders.


  • Lead trade compliance activities within new product introduction (NPI) processes to ensure products are launch-ready.


  • Serve as the trusted subject matter expert for trade compliance across the organization.


You Have

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in trade compliance, customs compliance, customs brokerage, or international


  • Expertise in HTS classification, country of origin determinations, valuation, and tariff management.


  • Strong knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations, including Section 232, Section 301, Free Trade Agreements, and CBP requirements.


  • Trade management, including responsibility for classification, tariff interpretation, broker management, and regulatory compliance.


  • Experience working directly with customs brokers, regulatory agencies, and trade consultants.


  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office Suite skills; Power BI experience is preferred.


  • A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.


  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), or equivalent trade compliance certification.


  • Experience supporting complex manufactured products with multi-component bills of material


  • Experience working with products sourced from Asia


  • Experience implementing or maintaining trade compliance data within ERP systems


  • Experience leading and supporting audits, disclosures, duty recovery programs, or customs valuation reviews

The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $115,000. This range is a guideline and may not reflect the actual offer presented. Factors considered when extending an offer include (but are not limited to) education, experience, relevant skills, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
