Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a CT Technologist at Henry J. Carter Specialty Hospital 1752 Park Ave, New York, NY 10035

Under the direction of a Radiologist, the CT Technologist operates Computed Tomography equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images. Performs procedures according to established standards and practices without constant supervision of technical detail.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Operates CT imaging equipment to produce quality images as ordered according to department protocols.
  • Produces quality images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Prepares patient for exam regarding patient preparation, positioning immobilization, and instructions throughout.
  • Practices effective radiation protection in utilizing appropriate shielding devices when possible.
  • Monitors exposure and follows department policy regarding pregnant patients.
  • Proper and timely utilization of the PACs system allowing for Radiologist interpretation.
  • Verifies all images are transferred to PACs in a timely matter.
  • Accurate utilization of the Radiology Information Systems.
  • Verifies proper exam was completed, amount of contrast (if used) is correct, and proper code is attached. Arrives and completes procedures in a timely fashion.
  • Assists in the care and maintenance of the facilities, equipment, and supplies while abiding by WUH infection control policy and procedure.
  • Maintains proper environment of care. Follows WUH infection control policy and procedure. Initiates Standard Precautions when required.
  • Instructs and supervises Radiography students in clinical practicum. Works with Radiography students in completing exams. Performs QA image review with students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Technical Diploma
  • Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services.
  • New York State Radiologic Technologist License.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)Advanced Certification in CT required within one (1) year of Hire or transfer.
  • New York State Department of Health IV Contrast Injection Certification, (Part 89-Section89. 40) required within one (1) year of Hire or transfer.
  • 1 - 2 years In Radiologic Technology.
  • Strong communication (both written and oral), problem solving, and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Radiology program or related Health field. 1 - 2 years In CT. Thorough knowledge of CT equipment.
