Nuclear Medicine TechnologistShift Details
- Monday - Friday (varying shifts of either 7:00am - 3:30pm or 9:30am - 6:30pm)
- No weekends, no call, no holidays
Position Overview
- Reviews patient history and physician's orders
- Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation
- Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s)
- Ensures proper imaging techniques related to patient's age and ability to understand procedure (sight, hearing needs, ability to cooperate) to ensure image quality is successfully obtained
- Reviews patient information and interpretation of data to confirm an appropriate plan and intervention specific for age-related needs and provision of care
- Performs nuclear medicine imaging and therapy in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization
- Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results
- Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure
- Enters, transmits, and reports scan results
- Orders, prepares, administers, stores, and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols and applicable regulations/standards
- Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate
- Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies in the Clinical Nuclear Medicine rooms
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), OR registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) and certified in Nuclear Medicine (NM) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- ARRT - CT certification
- NNMTCB - CT certification
- NYS License
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- ARRT Certification with CE credits
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience
- CT certified with PET/CT experience
- CT experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred knowledge in GE PET or Philips PET Scanners (not a requirement)
