Nuclear Medicine TechnologistShift Details
  • Monday - Friday (varying shifts of either 7:00am - 3:30pm or 9:30am - 6:30pm)
  • No weekends, no call, no holidays
Position Overview
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s)
  • Ensures proper imaging techniques related to patient's age and ability to understand procedure (sight, hearing needs, ability to cooperate) to ensure image quality is successfully obtained
  • Reviews patient information and interpretation of data to confirm an appropriate plan and intervention specific for age-related needs and provision of care
  • Performs nuclear medicine imaging and therapy in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure
  • Enters, transmits, and reports scan results
  • Orders, prepares, administers, stores, and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols and applicable regulations/standards
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate
  • Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies in the Clinical Nuclear Medicine rooms
Required Certifications & Licensure
  • Certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), OR registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) and certified in Nuclear Medicine (NM) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • ARRT - CT certification
  • NNMTCB - CT certification
  • NYS License
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • ARRT Certification with CE credits
Required Experience & Skills
  • Minimum 2 years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience
  • CT certified with PET/CT experience
  • CT experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred knowledge in GE PET or Philips PET Scanners (not a requirement)
