Description:
This position has dual responsibilities in CT and Diagnostic Radiology.
The technologist determines appropriate radiographic techniques.
They position patients using immobilization and support devices to ensure optimum film quality.
They use tact and courtesy at all times while positioning patients and adjusting equipment.
The technologist determines appropriate radiographic techniques based on anatomy and patient condition.
They secure patient history regarding the reason for the prescribed test and record it for radiologist information.
A competent understanding of patient positioning and image critique is essential.
The technologist must be able to position patients for all exams competently.
They should perform problem-solving related to physical limitations of patients during positioning.
Following appropriate scanning protocols per the radiologist is necessary.
Competency in performing image reviews to determine if more views are needed is required.
The technologist must select and adjust technical factors governing the imaging process.
Identifying artifacts on film and assisting in problem-solving is expected.
A minimum amount of repeat work is important.
Annual competencies must be completed.
Efficient communication of normal and abnormal anatomy captured on scans to the radiologist is essential.
The technologist should evaluate CT orders for appropriateness using established criteria.
This role involves the clinically competent operation of equipment in CT and digital X-ray modalities.
Compliance with all radiation safety procedures for assigned patients is necessary.
Documentation of care according to departmental standards is required.
The technologist must operate all equipment competently.
They should modify technical factors as situations warrant.
Performing start-up and shut-down procedures on all equipment is necessary.
Images must be labeled and marked correctly.
Daily inspection of equipment during use is essential.
Any malfunctions must be reported to the leader or the proper company for repairs if needed.
