Summary

This position will plan, lead, and organize planned and emergency mobile instilations. This position uses independent judgement while participating in discussions with their line management and others involving employee processes and actions such as rewarding, promoting, approving time off requests, evaluating employees' performance, and discipline.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Directly or through others, the incumbent:
  • Provide direction and coordinate the work of others.
  • Works to establish a safe work environment for employees, customers, and the public by following and enforcing established safety guidelines.
  • Assume accountability and exercise initiative to effectively communicate and coordinate with immediate supervisor and work group members to ensure efficient use of all related resources.
  • Guides and inspires others to accomplish goals, both individually and as a team, and embraces and communicates change management activities.
  • Lead by example and holds others accountable and responsible for their actions.
  • Communicate and encourage adherence to Oncor Core Values.
  • Ensures employees in training programs are aware of the requirements specified for progression.
  • Complies with and enforces all Oncor policies and procedures, rules, and safe work practices.
  • Develop written work scopes and procedures to help ensure that operating, construction and maintenance activities are conducted in a safe manner without unnecessary risks to customers.
  • Provide input on facilities and equipment upgrades and additions.
  • Interface with and build strong relationships with the Safety Representatives, Transmission Operations Support, and Transmission Engineering and Transmission Operations.
  • Develop moderate to strong computer skills to assist in the preparation and administration of work scopes, procedures, material procurement, electronic time keeping, substation and line load data, computer-based maintenance scheduler, equipment failure reports and environmental compliance.
  • Develop and maintain written procedures for emergency restoration including mobile transformer installation.
  • Utilize leadership skills by developing and presenting safety and job-related training.
  • Assume accountability and exercise initiative and resourcefulness in planning and scheduling material, personnel, equipment and other resources necessary for job initiation through completion.
  • Actively participate in employee reviews on performance progress relative to performance expectations.
  • Participates in investigations related to potential employee misconduct and policy or rule violations.
  • Must be available for overtime and call-out work.
  • Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
  • Candidate should live in close proximity to the Transmission Repair Center in Midlothian.

Skills
  • Competent in the use of computer applications such as Outlook, Word, TOA (Transmission Outage Application), Maximo and able to navigate inside the Oncor Intranet to access critical information.
  • Strong leadership and verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Education
  • A High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
  • Applicants with an Associate's Degree in electrical technology are encouraged to apply.

Experience
  • A valid class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required or applicants must have the ability to acquire one.
  • Completion of the Transmission Craft training program or other equivalent program is required. 7 years' experience in construction and maintenance of transmission lines and substation facilities can be accepted in lieu of the Transmission Craft training program completion.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a proficiency in basic electrical theory and be able to interpret Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) control circuit diagrams.
  • Willing and able to respond to routine and emergency call outs.

  • Ensures proper utilization and maintenance of assigned company vehicles, tools and equipment.
  • Accurately completes required paper work and time entries in acceptable time frames.
  • Effectively works with other members of management and other groups to achieve acceptable goals and levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Appropriately represents the company and management in a positive manner.
