Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning; Master's preferred
  • Extensive dance training to include technique, choreography and performance, preferably post-secondary experience
  • Understanding of Physical Education concepts and skills
  • Successful teaching experience including standards-based instruction, formative and summative assessment, student management, and organization
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of teaching techniques which are used to maximize student learning
  • Proven ability to provide an instructional program for students geared to meet their individual needs at their instructional level
  • Willingness and desire to collaborate with assigned PLC
  • Willingness to communicate with parents
  • Willingness to work closely with instructional committees to research, plan, and implement innovative ways to improve student learning
  • Ability to travel from classroom to classroom and from building to building throughout the district
  • Has reliable transportation as travel may be required between school locations
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students and their parents who are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse
  • Advanced ability to use technology as an effective communication, planning and instructional tool
  • Willingness to participate in professional development courses aligned with the school and district initiatives

Essential Functions:
  • Teaches using a wide variety of dance styles with an emphasis on creative forms
  • Teaches across grade levels using sequential, standards-based instruction
  • Works collaboratively in a performing arts environment
  • Designs learning experiences and assessments that allow students to demonstrate applied skills
  • Demonstrate a record of positive leadership including motivation, patience, high morale, esprit de corps, active listening, respect, and flexibility
  • Demonstrate commitment to excellence in productions and exhibitions and provides opportunities for performances of student work
  • Demonstrate a vision that is progressive, innovative, and shows a commitment to excellence
  • Works as an enthusiastic part of a learning-centered environment believing that each student can learn
  • Work with students providing positive learning experiences that promote the success of all students
  • Maintains effective classroom management within a positive learning environment
  • Must have adequate personal transportation and be able to travel between schools
  • Uses the PLC process to improve instruction, learning, and assessment
  • Communicates effectively with all stakeholders of the school community
  • Actively engage students in using technology in individual and collaborative learning activities
  • Works in a flexible and cooperative manner

Benefits/Compensation:
  • Salary range: $62,925 - $118,608 (includes Base & TRI enrichment; commensurate upon FTE, degree, credits and experience). Salary schedules can be accessed here.
  • Additional Compensation: Certificated positions may have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary range such as, but not limited to TRI professional learning, extended year days, extra appendix E supplemental days and professional development reimbursement.
