Full Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Cost Estimator to support federal facility assessment and hurricane recovery work in Kauai, Hawaii. As engineers and field teams document damage, you will help price practical responses that may include roof and envelope repairs, interior drying, debris clearance, and utility restoration. You will prepare takeoffs, gather pricing, and update estimates as scopes become more defined. Working with senior estimators, construction managers, and schedulers, you will help the team compare repair options, understand cost changes, and plan work with clear, traceable assumptions.
This role will require an onsite presence in Kauai, Hawaii and is eligible for per diem related expenses when appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for building, utility, and infrastructure repair scopes.
• Collect and evaluate vendor quotes, subcontractor pricing, and historical cost information.
• Review drawings, field assessments, specifications, and scope narratives to identify estimate requirements.
• Document assumptions, exclusions, unit rates, and changes to estimate versions.
• Support cost comparisons, change evaluations, and reconciliation of contractor proposals.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering, and scheduling teams to align estimate assumptions.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, or a related field and 4+ years of construction cost estimating for facilities, utilities, or infrastructure or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• A valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.
• Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
• 8+ years of construction cost estimating for facilities, utilities, or infrastructure.
• Experience estimating federal facility construction or emergency repair work.
• Proficiency with estimating software, Excel, and quantity takeoff tools.
