Job Summary:Altus Group is looking for a Cost Consultant specializing in Electrical services to join our Development Advisory division at our Toronto office. The Consultant will assist senior staff in delivering high-quality cost consulting services, ensuring accurate and timely estimates for various construction sectors, as well as project management and monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and equipment
- Review electrical drawings and specifications to identify and quantify the scope of work
- Assist in preparing estimates for electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm, and data systems
- Source and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing to support accurate project costing
- Assist with change order pricing and cost impact assessments throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintain and update cost databases, benchmarks, and rate libraries
- Liaise with project engineers, contractors, consultants, and clients on cost-related matters
- Support project teams with budgeting, forecasting, and cost planning activities
- Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within project timelines
Key Requirements:- 3+ years of experience in electrical estimating, cost consulting, or construction cost management
- Understanding of electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm, and data systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
- Experience preparing quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates
- Knowledge of construction materials, labour pricing, and equipment costing
- Experience sourcing and comparing supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software/tools
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field preferred
