About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical
Cost Accountant to join our Finance team. As a Cost Accountant, you will play a critical role in tracking, analyzing, and reporting on all costs associated with the manufacturing and installation of our products, including inventory, overhead, and installation expenses. You will work cross-functionally with our operations, supply chain, and engineering teams to ensure accurate cost data and support sound financial decision-making.
Responsibilities- Reports directly to the Accounting Manager.
- Maintain and monitor the cost accounting system, ensuring accurate tracking of all direct and indirect costs related to product manufacturing and installation, including raw materials, labor, overhead, and installation expenses.
- Perform regular inventory valuation and reconciliation, coordinating with the Supply Chain and Operations teams to ensure inventory records in NetSuite are complete and accurate.
- Analyze manufacturing overhead costs and assist in the development and maintenance of overhead allocation calculations.
- Assist in month-end close activities, including preparation of cost-related journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain, Operations and NetSuite teams to ensure accurate job costing and project cost tracking for product installations.
- Prepare and distribute regular cost reports and dashboards to support management decision-making.
- Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting processes as they relate to cost of goods sold and operational expenses.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining well-organized and accurate cost accounting records.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience- 2-5+ years of relative accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of cost accounting principles, including inventory costing, and overhead allocation.
- Experience using ERP systems for cost and inventory accounting. NetSuite experience preferred.
Preferred Experience- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- CPA or CMA certification, or progress toward certification, is a plus.
- Experience in a manufacturing or inventory-based environment.
- Experience using NetSuite for cost and inventory accounting.
- Working knowledge of month-end close procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Experience with job costing and project-based cost tracking.
- Ability to analyze cost variances and communicate findings clearly to non-accounting stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Location + Travel The role is hybrid remote based in your home office in Utah and in our Salt Lake are warehouses (air-conditioned). On-site work is estimated to be 1-2 days/week.
Schedule Full-Time, Salaried
Compensation $80,000-$100,000 annually (Note: We have the flexibility to hire at different levels, which may impact the corresponding pay range.)

- When on the production floor, required to don personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to ear protection, gloves, eye protection and/or safety helmet.
