Full Job Description

CONMED has an outstanding opportunity for a Cost Accountant II to contribute to the success of a global medical device company. This role is ideal for a highly analytical, detail-oriented finance professional with strong experience in cost accounting, inventory analysis, and financial reporting.

This position plays a critical role in leading accounting activities across the inventory cycle—including product costing, valuation, financial analysis, and internal controls—while partnering cross-functionally to ensure data accuracy, process efficiency, and informed decision-making.

** This role is based in Utica, NY.**

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor product costing, including calculating and updating standard costs and supporting budgeting activities

  • Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations

  • Analyze and reconcile inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness

  • Prepare variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and present findings to leadership

  • Assist with inventory controls, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes

  • Analyze and close work orders, ensuring accurate cost allocation and reporting

  • Support fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation/amortization, and capital tracking

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting, providing required analysis, schedules, and documentation

  • Collaborate with finance, operations, and supply chain teams to improve processes, data quality, and reporting efficiency

  • Participate in cross-functional projects and process enhancements across accounting and operations

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 2+ years of accounting or cost accounting experience with month-end and year-end close processes

Preferred Experience:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Access, Word, PowerPoint a plus)

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., MANMAN or Oracle)

  • Familiarity with SQL and/or Power BI

  • Experience in manufacturing or lean environments

Disclosure as required by applicablelaw, the annual salary range for this position is $70,480- $109,768. The actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education and skill level. The salary range is CONMEDs good faith belief at the time of this posting.
