Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate product costing by reviewing BOMs and overhead rates
  • Provide cost analysis for pricing review
  • Conduct make vs. buy analysis
  • Drive the annual standard cost review process
  • Coordinate annual physical inventories and conduct monthly cycle counts
  • Create and monitor special project accounting
  • Support operations with dashboards and metrics reporting
  • Assist in month-end closing and preparation of financial statements
  • Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Support internal and external audit requests
  • Ensure compliance with corporate/divisional policies and prepare ad hoc reports.

Full Job Description
The Cost Accountant position is a hands-on, finance professional that performs a variety of routine duties of an operational and accounting nature requiring some solo judgment. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, have excellent communication skills, and an understanding of manufacturing accounting.

The Cost Accountant position will be responsible for the following Costing Activities:
  • Ensure accurate product costing - including reviewing BOM's, overhead rates, etc.
  • Provide accurate cost and analysis for pricing review
  • Make vs Buy analysis
  • Drive the annual standard cost review
  • Coordinate Annual Physical in Oakridge and Athens sites and spot check cycle count every month in Oakridge and Athens sites.
  • Create and monitor special project accounting
  • Support Operations by creating/maintaining dashboards, metrics, and other relevant reporting
  • Plan, coordinate and assist reconciliation of cycle counts and physical inventories
  • Create/Maintain documentation of the procedures performed
  • Brainstorm and help implement cost reductions/process improvements, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned


The Cost Accountant position will be responsible for the following GL activities:
  • Assist with month end closing and preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
  • Preparing and ensuring accuracy of account reconciliations
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests
  • Ensure corporate/divisional policies and procedures are followed
  • Prepare ad hoc reports/analysis and communicate cross functionally
  • Other duties as assigned
