Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Technical Services Manager to join our Cortez operation. The successful candidate will lead the Technical Services team and provide direction for mine planning, engineering, geology, survey, geotechnical engineering, ore control, and other technical functions as applicable. This role is responsible for developing and executing short, medium, and long-term mine plans that support safe production, operational efficiency, resource optimization, and business objectives.

The Technical Services Manager will develop and lead a zero incident safety culture in which all employees are engaged and working toward the business goals of the organization. This individual will monitor and analyze performance to maximize production, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and provide technical support to operations. They will interface with cross-functional groups to develop production targets for forecasts and budgets and coordinate technical activities with operations, maintenance, environmental, and safety departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning associated with departmental sustainability and operational success.
  • Lead the development and execution of short, medium, and long-term mine plans and production schedules.
  • Guide development, communication, and execution of forecasting cycles in accordance with regional and corporate guidelines while meeting site needs.
  • Establish production targets and monitor performance against plan. Analyze reconciliation results and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Coordinate mine planning, geology, survey, geotechnical, ore control, and engineering activities.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with NGM safety, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Develop technical, commercial, and interpersonal skills of departmental staff and support career development of key personnel.
  • Coordinate departmental activities and work prioritization to support operational requirements.
  • Monitor completion of technical studies and economic evaluations to ensure opportunities are identified and realized.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to operations and other site departments.
  • Optimize resource recovery and minimize dilution through mine designs, plans, and industry best practices.
  • Manage technical projects ensuring cost and schedule performance are optimized and aligned with site objectives.
  • Establish a culture of continuous improvement striving for best-in-class performance.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or related technical discipline required.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in mine planning, engineering, geology, technical services, or related mining disciplines required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience required.
  • Experience with mine planning and scheduling software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Datamine, MineSight, or similar systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mine planning, resource management, budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliation processes required.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams preferred.
  • Surface and/or underground mining experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and technical mining software required.
