The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a
Corrections Program Supervisor position to be the Substance Use Disorders (SUD) Treatment Program lead. This position is based out of Jackson Correctional Institution in Black River Falls, WI (Jackson County).
Position Summary This position is responsible for the Substance Use Disorders (SUD) Treatment Program, which includes Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA), as well as the general living conditions, security, and activities of all Persons in Our Care (PIOC) assigned to live and/or participate in treatment programs on the housing unit.
Included in the major goals of this position are:
- Administration of SUD/AODA treatment programs
- Planning, coordination, and administration of a complex multi-disciplinary program for treatment and custody of PIOC
- Development of appropriate program components
- Implementation and maintenance of clinical and administrative procedures
- Supervision, direction, and training of Social Workers, Treatment Specialist staff for SUD/AODA programs, and the program officer in RHU, as well as direction to other staff assigned to the unit.
- Facilitation and evaluation of unit-based work assignments
- Planning and coordination of activities and relationships between the unit and outside agencies
Salary Information This position is in pay schedule and range 81-03 with a starting pay of
$44.33/hour . Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site.
Anticipated schedule will be Monday - Friday 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM.
This position is FLSA Exempt.
This position is not anticipated to travel on a regular basis, but most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.

Qualifications SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: - Must possess a credential issued by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services in the form of an Independent Clinical Supervisor-License (-135) , an Intermediate Clinical Supervisor-License (-134) , or a Clinical Supervisor In-Training License (-133) .
OR
- Must possess a credential issued by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services in the form of a:
- Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor credential (-132) or
- Clinical Social Worker License (-123) ,
- Marriage and Family Therapist License (-124),
- Marriage and Family Therapist Training License (-228),
- Professional Counselor License (-125) , or
- Professional Counselor Training License (-226)
AND
- Have at least 2 years of experience delivering Substance Use Disorder Treatment or have at least 2 years of experience providing supervision to Substance Use Disorder Treatment Providers.
AND
- Must be willing and able to obtain a Clinical Supervisor In-Training License within 6 months of hire.
*Note: Any employee hired with a Professional Counselor Training License or Marriage and Family Therapist Training License will need to have completed enough supervised clinical hours prior to appointment that they will be able to obtain their non-training Professional Counselor License or Marriage and Family Therapist License within the first six months after appointment, as the full credential is required to apply for the Clinical Supervisor In-Training License.
*Note: A Clinical Supervisor In-Training License may only be renewed twice and this position will be required to maintain a clinical supervisor credential.
In addition to the special requirements, minimally qualified applicants will also have:
- Experience developing, evaluating, and/or implementing policies and procedures
- Experience assessing, performing treatment planning, and counseling clients with Substance Use Disorders
- Experience performing supervisory or lead worker related activities (e.g. assigning, directing, and/or evaluating work; disciplinary matters, hiring, providing training/mentoring, etc.)
